The 4000m team pursuit in LA, when US revealed to the world their NASA designed carbon fibre wheels and streamlined helmets and won just about everything on the track, but that original awesome foursome of Grenda, Nichols, Woods, and Turtur knocked them off is another highly unexpected gold medal that stays in the heart, but this is right up there.

And guess what, I flick on TV and 4000m team pursuit qualifying round is on the box.

For Olympic athletes, they compare to the Joyners.

Track and field athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee is the sister of triple jumper Al Joyner. Sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner was married to Al.

The Joyner family won 12 Olympic medals, including seven golds, over a span of four Olympic Games. Al won gold for the U.S. at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, while Jackie and Florence each took home silver. Jackie won two gold medals and Florence won three gold medals and a silver four years later in Seoul. Jackie won a gold and a bronze in 1992, and then won a bronze in the long jump in Atlanta in 1996, wrapping up the family's dominant Olympic run.

Matt Wearn has a 14 point lead going into the medal race tomorrow, meaning he needs to finish within 6 places of Pavlos Kontides, e.g. if Kontides wins the race he can finish as low as 7th and win Gold. He can finish last if Kontides finishes 3rd or lower.

Filippo Ganna for the Italians rides in the Tour de France, but gave up this year, to ride for gold, but did ride the Giro and is dominate in the time trials. Flips between track and road.
