Drop labs play webster ?

Heavy pass. Pick one AR we don’t need both. You want to drop Labs fine play Inglis or Konstas.

Shouldn’t need an AR in a pink ball test let’s be real

Hang on what?
Surely this can't be true

Surely the only one that actually rates Marnus and his whatevers is Marnus lol

Didn’t we just gift Virat a ton bowling 10 overs of his rubbish?

if he's having back problems, then he shouldn't play

Agreed. They're playing him as a specialist batsmen, expecting big runs for him which will mean a long innings that can't be good for the back & the fielding too. He's a tall bloke so straining in running between the wickets is likely too. It's a long series, big gamble to take on your only legitimate all-rounder.

They should replace him with Beau Webster to take the all-rounder role. Surely relying on Marnus as the bowling backup is fraught with danger considering his bowling efforts last game. It could work but it's an unnecessary risk imo.

Both sides really shouldn’t need AR’s the ball will swing all day long. I’m okay going with just Marsh, just don’t play him plus Webster.

In Brisbane last summer Australia got 9 overs out of Green and Marsh in the first innings and 10 of Green in the second.

Plus they bowled Marnus and Head in the first. That was against the West Indies.

The ball doesn’t swing all day long. This has been one of the primary criticisms of the pink ball.

It doesn’t deserve said criticism, mind you, because all pink ball tests have had results - it’s just bowlers moaning - but it has been a constant criticism.

and Marnus might be better served just focussing on his batting

Say they bowl 70overs, you'll still need someone to bowl 10 overs. It's an ageing attack too with a long series. I don't think Aus need to run the risk with Marnus as their 5th bowling option. Even in the 1st innings at Perth, Marsh bowled 5 out of the 50 overs. He also took 2 wickets. India have shown they can bat for long periods in Australia. Imo it will be an interesting decision either way.

I actually thought him bowling would stop him over thinking his batting & maybe just ease the pressure a little bit through contributing to the side via bowling rather than only batting. But he's mentally cooked.

Marnus is a D grade bowler.
If he's there for that reason, then selectors have to cop the roasting that's fully deserved

Play real bowlers ffs

Head can bowl and so can McSweeney who is a more than handy change offie too. We can’t pick less specialist bats when we barely have 6

I never said otherwise I’m just reiterating the point that assuming 4 bowlers will get the job done alone unassisted because the ball is pink is not necessarily a perfect strategy.

McSweeney has 18 FC wickets @ 31. Why not just get him to roll the arm over a bit?
There’s no issue other than the fact we would have two part time offies when realistically we need a medium pacer with the pink ball
Our attack would be

2 x RFM
1 x LFM
3 x ROB

The pink ball swung and seamed less than the new kookaburra has lately during the 2 recent day/night shield matches
Some pink balls it does a lot. Then there has been quite a few for long periods it has done nothing

Scores in D/N matches at Adelaide include 7/511, 9/473, 3/589, 8/442 and 383

Groundskeeper reckons it'll have a decent covering of grass. If we lose play day 1 and possibly day 2 I can see it being a draw. Shouldn't deteriorate like usual

Hey it’s better than a loss lol

Mind you our batting we only need 100 overs to get rolled twice

I'm looking forward to it, I love the first morning buzz.

Swap Webster for Marsh or Webster for Marnus & send Marsh up the order if you're playing him as a specialist bat.

Not playing both Marsh and Webster that’s reducing our bats. Webster for Marsh sure that’s it. We won’t, Marsh will play and we will be just Boland for Haze

Marnus is no longer a reliable bat. Honestly, Aus should've ripped the band aid off with him. If you're trialling Marsh as a pure bat, perfect chance to play him up the order & bring in an all-rounder. Marsh has been a better bat than Marnus for a while now...
