I reckon the shift from tennis fans to casual fans over the last decade has seen an increase in instances of poor tennis etiquette within our crowds.

The Aus Open is as much about the overpriced alcohol, the party, and the "vibe" as the tennis nowadays. Having a "party" court is a showcase that tennis aus doesnt think this is an issue.
Bravo, far better explained than I could have done.

My theory is that what draws you towards anything in this world, is the same thing that can draw you away.

Sports business had worked out that attracting people because of the sport is great, and you get people for life then. Because the sport is the attractions and is the ever present.

But getting lots of people short-term to come to your sport for yelling, and drinking, and fireworks, and cheerleaders, and music is better, short term, financially. They rationalise it by stating “come for the vibe, and stay for the sport”.
But there’s a lot of “come for the vibe, and stay whilst it’s fun, and I don’t really care about the sport.” spectators. LIV golf is an example, many who go to the Adelaide event don’t even know the players names.
And when better fun can be found elsewhere, well, there’s no second thoughts about not returning.

Nail on the head.

Sidenote: Demon has broken down Cerundolo nicely in the end. Which is what he can do to all but the very very best players.

Anyway, his next round will be a big challenge despite not being a superstar name.

Picked this post form last night.

As for Collins...that is Danielle Collins for you. She won't take a backward step and is always in your face. It is her personality. Comparing her to a mercenary or, heaven forbid, Tomic is a massive misread by some people. Her issue is the opposite. She is too combative and that can rub people the wrong way. She is not exactly unknown here. She was the runner-up when Barty won in 2022. She handled that crowd and atmosphere fine and was respectful in her loss.

ps, on Collins, last year was meant to be her last year before retirement. Had a very good season last year, won a masters tournament out of nowhere.

This goes back to my first point

Just to clarify, my only comparison to Tomic was meant to be her reference to how much money she makes. Remember when he crapped on in a presser about the millions he had in the bank? It reminded me of that, that’s all.
