Autopsy Autopsy vs Collingwood aka the Great Pain Robbery

I assumed Will Phill was exhausted - in the pregame chat most people suggested he wouldn’t be able to run with Daicos all game. Didn’t help that we weren’t able to keep N Daicos out of it in the second half, but it made more of a difference that McCreery kept LDU quiet and George has less influence late, plus Sidebottom in the middle was huge in the last quarter. In the end they just had more levers to pull, as they should given the teams’ respective positions.

North’s performance completely exceeded mine and most people’s expectations. The things we need to learn and improve are the same whether Fisher’s shot goes through for a win or not. I was gutted at the end but already I feel philosophical, proud and very encouraged by what I saw today.

Commiserations on the loss. North played some exciting footy early. Just have to play four quarters of that and you’ll be hard to beat. All the best for next week. Keep your chins up.
Four quarters? They did enough to win today, that was classic afl robbery which happens to favour Collingwood again. They always get the big decisions. It’s a joke

In the first QTR deep down I knew we would lose. When we got 54 up I knew we wouldn't hold it. It's just the way of north Melbourne the last decade.

Analysis aside, that was a very entertaining and competitive game a football. Regardless of the drop off and subsequent comeback the boys should be really proud of themselves today, we’ll learn to stem the tide and defend our leads in time.

Just stoked to be legitimately competitive

Yeah we deserved the win. Daicos kissed on the dick like always. The free kicks to Collingwood in their f50 weren’t there. Umpires really assisted with giving pies momentum, and the Bailey non 50 is what really makes this loss sting.

Clarko subbing Phillips was moronic. Why not at least wait until Phillips showed signs of slowing down/letting daicos off the chain. At the point of being subbed, he was still doing a great job of shutting him down. One of the all time idiotic coaching decisions.

Upsetting for the playing group, and hope they don’t lose confidence from being up 9 goals and dropping the lead. The boys deserved the win off that effort. Well done LDU, Warlord, Scott, Sheezel and X

Crows supporter here. You guys should have had a 50 from the mark that was taken from the daicos soccer in the dying minutes. It was a clear mark, umpire blew the whistle and players kept on running at the player who took the mark. 50 all day but robbed. This keeps on happening, afl is a joke comp
you guys have had it bad too with the umpiring as well. how was that goal in the first not over turned when it was touched!

I was at the Hawthorn game barely two months ago and we totally sucked that day. Today's outcome totally sucks, but that first half was sublime. Devastated overall. A Collingwood dad behind me cracked it at 1/4 time and told his young son, 'come on we're leaving'. Disgraceful example to set and just goes to show how spoilt they've been.

It is disgusting that we are all nervous when 9 goals up. Absolutely disgusting

A lot to like today.

  • Wardlaw needs to improve his tank, he is such a dominant player in the middle and only playing 70-75% of the game is hurting us.
  • The subbing of Phillips was such a huge mistake, he was doing a great job on Nick Daicos who was the difference for Collingwood in the fourth.
  • The connection between our mids and forwards was the best we have seen in 5/6 years, the addition of Teakle worked very well today. Even Pink looked better today with a third tall in the forward 50.
  • Comben is getting better with every game down back and is our CHB for the next decade. He is very mobile for his size.
  • The skills shown by midfielders LDU, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Powell and Phillips were exceptional in that first half, they fell away in the second, but the future looks really exciting.
I’m massively happy and hugely disappointed at the same time. If we had won that game by two goals, Richmond would be on the bottom right now. Even after a loss, we got a decent percentage boost. 👍

we’ve come along way since that game. felt flat after both games but didn’t leave the hawks game optimistic about the future like i did leaving today.

Flat AF, bit did we just find an actual player in Brynn?

14 disp, 6 marks and a goal.

Thought he was very good, and beyond his stats he really played with a bit of confidence, probably should have played him one out in the forward line a bit more in the second half.

Geez it's a tough game as it is but when you get fisted by the umpires it's even tougher, especially against a quality opponent. My main gripe isn't entirely with the one's Collingwood got, it's with the non calls which we didn't. Momentum is everything at this level and when you are fighting to arrest that momentum, the non calls just makes that so much harder.

Anyway I'm proud of our young guys who are clearly now leaving nothing on the field. Another pre season, another year of experience and these guys will really shine.

Daicos went to half forward in the 3rd, ended up with Tucker on him more than Phillips.

Horrible call, and certainly had an influence on the end result.

Not buying this shit from Clarko - no wonder Phillips wants to go elsewhere, he’s got form here with blokes like Josh Kennedy
