it appears the premiums in the backline are a few and far between. even locks such as gibbs goddard and deledio have struggled at some points whilst supposed conisitent performers broughton and grimes have been up and down like a yoyo. So i ask you who will be the 7 highest scoring backline premiums this year ? I would say Adcock, Goddard, Enright, Deledio, Gibbs, Suckling and Shaw

Re: weak backline ?

Only 1 of my backline scored over 100 this week which was Deledio.. , gibbs, goddard all below par looking at gibbs to enright this week..

Re: weak backline ?

The weak premiums turn Suckling into a lock and Heppel very close to a 22 round lock. Leaving less expensive upgrades to do there. I find it a blessing in disguise as I tried a different tactic this year of employing more rookies in defence and having a stronger starting midfield against the conventional wisdom and it has paid off so far.

Employed the same strategy :thumbsu:

Job security for Lower who scores 100 when he plays 4 quarters would mean I only have to do one upgrade to Goddard to leave a starting backline of

Goddard, Deledio, Gibbs, Grimes, Suckling, Heppell, Lower which could be sat on most of the year while the midfield and forwards are filled with 13 starting keepers.

Have a midfield of Swan, Pendlebury, Judd, Selwood, Boak, Curnow, Harris, Liberatore, Bewick

Thinking of Boak (who I wanted for 22 rounds or to swap to GAJ round 10) to Goddard this week to strenghen the midfield during Collingwood bye and subbing to the backline after.

I feel cash available from selling on my forward bench could easily turn Curnow and Liberatore into GAJ and Hodge/Boyd/Montagna ect in a few weeks.

Re: weak backline ?

My backline is killin me
Heppell the only one who can hold his head up.

Morris
Harry O :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Seriously mate, I've seen a lot of your posts now and almost all of them seem to be about some sort of terrible trade blunder or a horrible team selection. To be honest I think you're taking the piss and trolling for reactions, if that's the case then frankly you need to get a life and find something else to do with your time. If not...well don't hit auto fill next year.

settle down mate he's been round here longer than you, yeh harry O bad selection morris shocking but if it was his first year of sc he would just see players Morris and Harry O very good players so never know. That the only post i have seen of his so you may be right aha just my 2 cents ;)

Why on earth would you have these two in your team in the first place lol?? Either your taking the piss with these posts of yours or it's your first time playing sc, oh and quick tip this week I'd be downgrading both harry O and Morris to Pettigrew and Spangher as I think both are ready to fire;).

Did you make your trades last night to??

OK there was a post you made last week saying you traded Heppell out, but now you say he is the only one who can hold his head up.

I say post a link to your team so then we can see what your whole team looks like because I think people are wising up to your game here.

Add yourself to the BF SC Ladder and if your team is legit I'm sure a few of us could help you with your team :thumbsu:

First off it's not his first year, he's been around for a while. Trust me have a look at some of his posts, every single one is related to some sort of strange selection or mistake - example he traded in Coad on Monday AFTER he did his hamstring. The guy is just trying to make a name for himself and Big Footy's biggest idiot.

Totally agree, not sure why he's playing the game or what sort of kicks he gets out of it but I say cut the crap and show us your team NSWCROW

Re: weak backline ?

That side is putrid

I feel kind of bad now, like I punched a blind guy in the face or something...Well NSWCROW I apologise for labeling you a piss-taker. It’s true your side is pretty bad but there are some good selections in there. Youe backline in particular though is horrible, my advice would be start downgrading any mid-priced under-performers (you have quite a few) to quality rookies asap and use the cash to upgrade some of the other duds. To be fair my first supercoach team was probably just bad as this. But if you’re using this forum then you should be able to find plenty of good advice on how get a really good side together. Good luck.

Re: weak backline ?

at the moment it seems like loading up on forward premiums as there are quite a few there doing well, and not many forward rookies doing the biz.

conversely in the backline the premiums aren't doing great but there are plenty of good rookie options. Luke Thompson has been an absolute pearler of a downgrade for me.

Yeah I got Thompson and he’s been great so far. I’ve decided to not downgrade Duigan as I want to see some of the backline rookies get a few more games before bringing them in. So I’ll be downgrading Swallow to Iles and upgrading Duigan, who to I’m not sure yet. What’s peoples thoughts on Rob Murphy? Has been consistent this year bar one bad score and he is cheap.

Very funny stuff shaun1800. :thumbsu:

What's the go with Newman? has he picked up an injury or is there another reason no-one seems to be recommending him as an upgrade target?

It's because every man and his dog already has Delidio in their backline and don't want both Delidio and Newman in their backline due to the round 19 multi bye.

That would be my guess anyways. Just a hunch.

Re: weak backline ?

Yep. It's almost as shit as my team.

This week I decided to avoid common sense and do all my trades (whilst I was completely wasted) on Monday, partly because I got sick of people patronizing others for trading before teams are announced.

I expected Shaun Higgins, Kieren Jack and Cyril Rioli to play this week. 0 trades remaining for the round.

:D

I honestly don't think it would be a bad thing to have Deledio and Newman both in the backline. Even when the Rd 19 multibye rolls around there arent many Brisbane and Sydney premiums in the middle, which would make it easier to shift and bench Deledio in the midfield if you are short on cover in defense.

He had in interrupted pre-season with hamstring issues, and in the past couple of weeks has been experiencing severe cramp issues, he recently done a video on the RFC website where he put it down to not having enough salt in his diet.

I have both Newman and Deledio in my team, Newman is still scoring well, and should only get better as the year goes on.
