Hi, just organising the hand discussion threads a bit. We'll have this one which will discuss any bad beats and feel free to vent about any bad beats you get. We all get our fair share of bad beats so we all share the pain. Of course it works vise versa with getting lucky and feel to brag (to a certain extent) about your supreme ski...luck.

Played a live 27 man SnG today, $50 entry, rebuy and add on, turbo format, 20 minute blinds, no antes.

Blinds 300/600, I have about 180BB to start the hand, so around 110k, villain has me covered after cold decking me in an earlier hand (limped pot 6 way, he limps with JJ pre from the bttn, because like that hand will have no issues with its equity by the river in a multiway pot etc; I flop top 2 pair with 76, we get it in, BAM! J on the turn)

So I'm dealt KK, there is a limp, I raise to 1900 in the lo jack, gets to villain in the SB, he pops it to 5k, gets back to me, I 4 bet smallish to try and keep his continuation range as wide as possible, to 12.5k (think its a balance between that and actually building a pot with a dominating hand). He flats, so at this stage from what I know about his play I would suspect he has a hand like AQ/AJ or maybe JJ or 10 10, the latter less likely as he's probably just going to flat the open with those hands. I think with QQ or AA he gets it in pre, and the same with AK, though that is unlikely given I have two blockers (yes this guy would 5 bet shove with QQ pre that deep)

So villain is super super laggy and super super spewy post and also really easy to nail for an almost exact range of hands in his postflop play, I'm really happy about where I am in the hand at this stage.

Flop is QJ6 rainbow. He's first to act. He announces all in, for about 150 BB effective (!!!).

After that initial WTF moment of him saying "all in", I verbally talk through the hand for about 15 seconds - so I say "well if you'd flopped a set here you would wait for me to bet, there's basically only one set possible from the action pre, that of JJ" etc, after that I call it off.

We open the cards, I reveal my KK, he opens AQ. Dealer takes no dramatic time and seals my fate with the Q of diamonds on the turn. Then to rub it in he says he accidentally saw the Q of spades as the first burn card, and rolls it over.

I shake my head, say "nice hand" and head out the door.

Live poker = rigged. :D
 
Thought i played this quite well.

I sometimes (maybe 20% of the time?) like to just limp in such an early spot with AA, as you generally get a raise somewhere. But that does kind of announce your hand to the world....

It's a pretty sick format, $30 for a 20 k start stack, if u bust before the break at the hour, $10 gets you another 20k, with the option of adding on for another $10 for 20k at the break, however, if you make the break without busting your start stack for $20 you get 60k chippies.

I tend to play about 50% of hands overall while the stacks are really deep, playing almost 90% of hands from late position, obv raising quite a bit in those late spots as well.
 
I had a hand in it today, where I limped with 56 o, turned the nut str8 which was the nuts also on the river, bet 8k into a 3k pot on the river, and got snap called by someone with bottom set. After the hand I was cursing myself I should have bet something like 30k (which would have been snap called also) if I had of known their hand was that strong. :D
 
I'm going through an a terrible patch. Not sure how to get out of it. As people would see my tournament history is bad, however cash games had kept me going. Right now everything I touch is turning to shit. Not sure how to turn it around. If I have AK and get pushed all in pre-flop you can be sure Ill miss. I guess a break is needed to refresh and study more and come back.

This just happened (not a bad beat, and probably not a play i'd usually made with low kicker early on but half tilt given my AJ had just lost to A9 two hands previous to same player who went in all in pre flop and hit the 9)
