Jabba73
Hall of Famer
You heard it here first folks, yes ... I have decided to retire from the temporary captaincy of the greatest club in the SFA, the Baghdad Bombers.
Captaincy has been a privilege afforded to only the least deserving and hopelessly incompetent amongst us and I am proud to have had my named etched into the Hall of Shame alongside some truly reprehensible proponents of the craft.
The current list of Baghdad Bombers is quietly working their way through the nomination process and we expect to announce my permanent (as much as one can be playing for the Bombers) appointment in a short while.
While you wait with bated breath for the outcome, we urge you to distract yourselves with the finals series currently underway. It will help fill the hours of anticipation with the veneer of something else important going on.
Thank you to all those that have supported my "efforts" since being unexpectedly (but not unusually for a Bombers team) thrown into the deep end with the loss of the previous captain to what is effectively a permaban.
I leave the temporary captaincy role safe in the knowledge we have improved in every measurable metric in the last few weeks of the season; 3 additional rookies added to take our season tally to 5, a much improved performance on the field including defeating the minor premiers and 3 wins in a row, still managed to win one of the two team trophies on offer for the season, a huge impact on the media scene, an SFA leading initiative with the first peoples vote in our next captaincy election, we struck liquid gold allowing us to pour much needed resources into the club and an increase in match thread participation.
The club is set up for sustained success under the new leadership about to be announced. You have been warned.
