In another hilarious twist to the season and the history of these clubs, one of them will almost fail their way into the 8.

Carlton with bad injuries to Curnow, TDK and a midfield being held together by Cripps. Freo with Treacy and Pearce having serious injuries and Darcy out suffering another bout of Too Much Maccas.

Carlton with WC and Saints but half a win behind. Freo with GWS and Port.

Who fails their way I to 8th?

(I did think about adding Essendon but the idea of them beating Sydney and Brisbane seemed a bridge too far)

Don’t count out Bulldogs not making finals.

If they lose this one, they will probably beat North and lose to GWS. Not a certainty of making the 8 at all.

If every favourite wins from here, the ladder will look like this:

1. Sydney
2. Geelong
3. Port Adelaide
4. GWS
5. Brisbane
6. Western Bulldogs
7. Hawthorn
8. Carlton
--
9. Fremantle
10. Collingwood

If Carlton slip up and Fremantle do as expected (lose to GWS, beat Port), they would trade places.

If Fremantle, WB and Hawthorn win out from here - then Carlton will be kept out.

If 2 of WB, Carlton and Fremantle stumble from here, then Collingwood may get a look in if they upset Brisbane.

Even with their injury problems and loss of form, Carlton would be favoured to hold on simply from playing bottom 6 teams.
