More info on Ben Newton:

Ben was again starved of senior opportunities in 2014, despite maintaining strong form at SANFL level. He made his AFL debut against the Giants in round 7 and performed pretty strongly as part of the centre square rotation but played just 3 more AFL games, all with limited time on ground as the sub.

Notes:
Ben has been somewhat of the forgotten man in 2011. The clubs 2nd round draft pick in the 2010 National Draft, Ben missed all bar 5 games after succumbing to persistent ankle and groin injuries. He played 5 matches for West Adelaide reserves from Rounds 5 through 9 and averaged 17 disposals a match.

Rated highly by the club for his ball winning ability and effective disposal, the club will be hoping he can get himself fit and firing to debut in 2012.

Notes:
Ben spent the majority of 2012 playing in the SANFL reserves for West Adelaide. He doubled his game tally from last year, improving his fitness and size before missing the last month of the SANFL season. His reserves form ranged from solid to impressive and he was rewarded with his debut SANFL league appearance late in the season. Ben has another season left on his contract and will need to pull out all stops to ensure he stays on the list beyond 2013. Hopefully a new coach and fitness regime can get the best out of the 2010 2nd round draft pick.

it is good to see that over the last 6 weeks Newton has had good solid games for the magpies .. it is a pity that he was only selected as an Emergency for the game against Freo .. hopefully he will get his first AFL game very soon

his game last week for the magpies was very good (he got 26 disposals with 7 tackles and 11 clearances)

Looks like hes BOG in the Magpies team again today...anybody else think he may get a run against GWS next week?
