Any news on Ben Robbins ?
He's not IN, hasn't been IN and no one's even suggested he should come IN.
I think he's a pretty decent player.

Not sure what his form has been like but surely he'd deserve a game one the merits of being an accountable midfielder. We don't have to many of them, and we needed them the last few weeks.

Good squad player, but lacking in strength and kicking penetration. Something our midfield needs. Only way i can see him getting a game is in a tagging role, in which he is behind Rawlings and Mick Stevo.

Not excactly busting the door down in the VFL.

Has been servicable, but not enough to push IMO.

Robbo

Considering Denis opted to pick him up, I was surprised he wasn't part of Carlton's massive recruiting drive this season.
I don't mind him. Works hard ...in racing terms >>> likes wet track

Probably will be overlooked with Watson ahead of him and don't forget everyone's fav. Shane C !!! (he's an emerg. this week)

He is the Kangaroos version of Mark McGough. Nice hands but can't kick for keeps and only plays one good game every two years.

Laidley appears to be grooming Firrito in the role of running tagging/midfielder which was Robbins supposed gig.

Won't be on the list in 2005 for mine. Hopefully he can take Shane Clayton away with him as well.

I do not think we can afford to have too many in the midfield that have sub-par kicking skills. Simpson can't kick very well, if we add Robbins who is going to deliver the ball cleanly into the forward line?

But in his defense he knows that kicking isn't really his game and so concentrates on his handball

Perhaps Simmo should do the same thing ;)

The first two points are spot on, but one good game every two years? I would say the opposite and say that I have hardly been let down by Ben Robbins' performances in the blue and white - always puts his head down and plays smart footy.

He was sensational in his first season here, since then he's gotten slower and the game's gotten faster.

Looking at JYD's selections, I think that he's leaning towards giving the kids a run rather than turn to the experienced players. Against expectations, he selected Grima, and now he's picked Chad Jones ahead of Sav Rocca. Watson has been named in the emergencies, so I would think that shows that he's ahead of Robbins in the pecking order.

As long as Simpson, Harvey, Grant, and Stevo stay fit, I don't think Robbins would be brought into the side.

I think he is too small for the role he plays. Our negating onballers ideally should be of solid build and be able to crunch blokes like Riccutio. Firtto is the ideal size to do this and it's good to see JYD use him in this role. If Simmo and Stevo were out then maybe Benny would get a run but with the young crop we have I think Benny might struggle to get a look in this season.
