Archer - Logue - ?Corr?
?Hardeman?
- Chom - ?Goater?

Kerch - Wardlaw - Scott
Xerri - LDU - Sheezel

?Duursma? - TBC TALL FWD - ?Fisher?
TBC SML FWD - Larkey - Curtis

INT: Zurhaar / Powell / Simpkin / TBC BIG DEFENSIVE MID / Wawson

Could replace any of the first three on the bench with Tucker I guess.

So about half our best 23 based on their current merits are a lock I'd suggest.

We're still lacking an elite user coming out of D50.

Highlighting that we need to draft/trade/sign a genuine marking CHF in 2025;

B: Archer - Logue - Corr
HB: Goater - Comben - Hardeman
C: McKercher - Sheezel - Stephens
HF: Zurhaar - CHF DRAFT/TRADE TARGET HERE - Duursma
F: Curtis - Larkey - Maley
R: Xerri - LDU - Wardlaw
INT: Simpkin, Scott, Fisher, Teakle
Sub: (From) Ford, Powell, Stephenson

Based on this list, I rate our position groups as;

Backline: 7/10
Centre/followers: 8/10
Forwardline: 6/10
Depth/interchange: 4/10
As someone who is at pains to say how poor the list is, those ratings are very generous and completely in contrast to how shit we’ve been over the last 3-4 years.

To be clear, I don't think any team can sniff a premiership without minimum 8/10 units across the board.

But I agree I might have been overly generous.

Fair IMO.

Just take a look at the backline and unless you want to rate on "potential" it's something like this:

  • Logue - Very good 7-8 out of 10 but now durability concerns as of today
  • Corr - Solild when fit and decent support 6-7
  • Archer - Great "rookie" year. Proven nothing long term. 5/10
  • Goater - Nothing but potential as of today due to injury / age 1/10
  • Comben - Lot of potential, durability concerns, not finished product and may be at the other end in 5 months 4/10
  • Hardeman - Who? 1/10 as of today

Add that up and that backline is a 26/60 rating as of today. Which is probably fair, even though there are plenty of good bits to work with.

For completion's sake... including realistic trade and draft targets:

Archer - Logue - Corr
Goater - Comben - Hardeman

McKercher - Wardlaw - Scott
Xerri - LDU - Sheezel

Duursma - *Day - Simpkin
Curtis - Larkey - *Berry

INT:
TALL UTILITY W Dawson / Pink / K Dawson / Teakle
DEFENSIVE MID *Parfitt or Lyons / Phillips
HFF/MID Powell / Zurhaar / *Macrae or Parker
SML FWD Fisher / RHJ / *Richards or Konstanty
GEN DEF Lmac / Tucker / Fisher / Bergman

I'd love to add Dan Houston instead of one of those GEN DEF players, but I can't see him agreeing to it.
