This fixture promises to be pivotal in the greater picture of the inaugural Big Bash. The Kangaroos need to lift to stay in the race for a finals berth, whereas a win for the Whales will give them a 2 game buffer with 2 weeks to go, and almost certainly set the finalists in stone, with the unbeaten Bolts almost guaranteed a spot.

The Whales' strength has been in their batting, with Van_Dyke leading the competition and batters like captain iBeng, Kirkswan and fitzroybowiedog all chipping in. Their bowling has been the worst in the comp, with a total of 11 wickets in 3 games, and has lacked penetration with only Ljp86 @quazilla and Shermy taking any scalps.

The Kangaroos have also had patchy batting form, with players like Cloud_ and _Cayz_ yet to hit their straps, and inconsistent performances from The Filth Wizard Ant Bear and Headless stalling their momentum. However, their bowling has been impressive, with Sterge and akkaps amongst the top wicket-takers in the league.

In a crucial match for the credibility of the league, look for the umpires to play their part in assisting the Kangaroos to a tight 2 wicket win.
