With the tightness of the ladder, we have got a big chance to finish top 4 this year. It was only when i saw a post on the main board that contained the current ladder, and another that contained this weekends games, that i realise that our game against the Hawks is a must win game. Below is why;
Ladder
P W D L F A % Total
1 West Coast Eagles 15 14 0 1 1654 1188 139.23 56
2 Adelaide 15 10 0 5 1364 1084 125.83 40
3 Geelong 15 9 0 6 1484 1322 112.25 36
4 Melbourne 15 9 0 6 1579 1496 105.55 36
5 Sydney Swans 15 9 0 6 1263 1220 103.52 36
6 Richmond 15 9 0 6 1418 1433 98.95 36
7 Kangaroos 15 9 0 6 1369 1393 98.28 36
8 Brisbane Lions 15 8 0 7 1555 1330 116.92 32
9 St Kilda 15 8 0 7 1517 1344 112.87 32
10 Port Adelaide 15 7 1 7 1384 1434 96.51 30
11 Western Bulldogs 14 6 0 8 1469 1463 100.41 24
12 Fremantle 14 5 0 9 1217 1279 95.15 20
13 Collingwood 15 5 0 10 1291 1528 84.49 20
14 Essendon 15 5 0 10 1310 1576 83.12 20
15 Hawthorn 15 3 0 12 1255 1517 82.73 12
16 Carlton 15 2 1 12 1251 1773 70.56 10
this has to be one of the tightest ladder's in a long time with up to 10 teams in the hunt at the moment for finals action.
I think it will get even tighter after this round........
There is 5 big games this weekend that may make the race for the final 8 even tighter after this round.
Hawks v North(our big game, could see us jump more than a few teams).
Richmond V St.Kilda(if the Saints win we will jump the Tigers, if the Tigers win, another side threating to take our spot in the 8 will find this harder to do.)
Geelong V Port(Ports season could end, or we may get one game infront of the Cats.
Melbourne V Sydney92 teams above us on %, whoever losses we may jump ahead of them on points if we win)
West Coast V Brisbane(if the Eagles win and we do to, we may jump 2 games clear of the Lions)
As you can, the ball is truely in our court this weekend, we win, and with most of the other sides we are competiting against for a finals spot playing each other, we could either jump a game ahead, or at worst drop another chance of cementing a top 8(hope for a top 4 spot).
