Need some recommendations folks. WAY into the djent/progressive/tech death sound at the moment. Loving Periphery, Tesseract, Circles, Chimp Spanner, Animals as Leaders, Volumes, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya. Hungry for more, what are some other great bands along these lines?

Yeah, I've had trouble with Textures. I've got their last 2 albums, they're a band I SHOULD love, but there's just something about their sound and songs that doesn't completely grab me.

see tyrant of death. mostly instrumental with electronic touches occasionally, not quite as progressive and a bit more aggressive than the bands you've mentioned. has an assload of albums, probably a dozen+ and all of them are offered free for download.

Check out Vildhjarta & Sikth...

Yeah I have a couple of Sikth albums. Really like them. I meant to mention 'Aliases', who are the guitarist Pin's new band. Their debut album 'Safer than Reality' is awesome, I think I like it even more than Sikth.

Thanks for the recommendations folks, will check em all out, and keep em coming if you've got any more.

One for the old school pagan heads, from Skyclad's 'The burnt offering to the bone idol',
Really like "The Wayward Sons of Mother Earth", but this one is always quite expensive. Never managed to buy it at a reasonable price...

Both Sabbat (UK) albums with Martin are great, too, especially the first...

New Asphyx - Deathhammer. Available in the US on February 28, 2012. MARTIN. VAN. DRUNEN.

It even has cover art by Axel, just like the olden days. ****ing biblical.

a few interesting recent releases i have come across

hint of gorguts and a few other things. dutch i think. could gather a bit of hype.

russky, carries a bit of a nile influence and some decent chops (and the terrible new guns and roses font :( ).

and the new psycroptic, which is kind of underwhelming. they should give serious consideration to becoming an instrumental band. not only are the vocals still annoying but they have to go over the top of one of the more skilful bits of the band. it makes me wonder what they could come up with if they didn't have to try and fit a vocalist in.
