Strachan's clearly not up to it at all, but that doesn't mean ROB is anything more than a very average AFL ruck

My guess is that the club currently doesn't see the ruck position as a huge area of in-game importance whatsoever - thus not really seeing the need to upgrade on ROB in the past few years, or even find his eventual replacement

They had a crack at Moyle so they are aware but have looked at other priorities first

They will need to prioritise v soon or look quite silly

That would be the problem, because outside of hitouts, there's zero difference.

The main difference is Strachan seems to need a rest after a couple of efforts

I think he’s more a natural footballer than ROB hence he can get the ball more but he’s still not afl fit after how many odd pre seasons so he’s a bust

For a complete picture, you'd have to also consider the effectiveness of the opposition ruck while Strachan played, compared to their effectiveness with ROB played.

Didn't we find the opposition ruck killed us when Strachan played?

Anyway, I guess the point people are making is ROB isn't great. I think most of us can get behind that statement.

One of Strachan's opponents was Grundy when he was in awesome form, so expect we conceded a fair bit of influence that day. The other was Nankervis, who smoked us 43 hitouts to 13 for Strahan. Clearances were 37-32, so not a massive difference there. At the end of the day, it's hard to mention how bad Strahan is without referencing that ROB is no better outside of the meaningless hitout stat. And centre clearances, to be fair.

I love my 48 flavours. Discovered it in Mildura 11 years ago visiting a friend. The cookies and cream always gets ordered.

Considering we were rumoured to have put up a massive offer to Tim English last year, and there is smoke around Sam Draper at the moment, I don't think this is on the money. Whether right or wrong, it does seem more a case of we see developing rucks as a complete and utter waste of time and resources, and it's a position we can buy/trade/MSD a player in when needed.
