bigman do you see Burgess as a smokey for round 1?
Spenze it is difficult to say but at this stage I would lean towards unlikely. He has been training exclusively as a forward and he has his work cut out for himself finding a spot in there. Perhaps as a replacement for Mcadam but that might be a stretch. He’s a great mark and ball user but in terms of speed and pressure I think we would likely prefer cook or gollant.

Burgo has also played in the B team the past two sessions where there have been clearly defined teams. So have cook and gollant for that matter.

If you look at todays A team there were 22 players who featured. Now I’m not convinced the likes of hamill, parnell and maybe sholl make our round one team but we also have soligo, milera, curtin, maybe sloane to come in if healthy. Not sure if there is room for burgo at this stage although obviously more injuries will happen.

Just think it is strange to get him back and then play him forward. We are flush there and he can pinch hit if it all falls to bits but thought a mature body in the backlines would have been the way to go with him. Plenty of forwards who can't break into the ones become handy defenders

Pretty negative write up today. Can't excuse you of bias which is good!
Interesting take stonesthrow, I actually thought the standard was overall quite high and a number of our most important young players (in particular Rankine, Thilthorpe and Rachele) played well.

There were a couple of strange selections with the teams and obviously not everyone dominated but that’s football. Not to mention two of the best trainers this summer (Soligo and Curtin) did not feature.

Was also good to see at least one of Rankine/Rachele/Pedlar at almost every cba which has been a big discussion point

Certainly wouldn’t have too many concerns based on today other than our growing injury list which isn’t out of control yet but would want to chill out a bit.

It's interesting that a lot of players weren't that amazing according to bigman even though it was As vs Bs
The B team was very competitive for the first two periods Scorpus. They dropped off badly after that but there was some good talent in that B team who took it up to their opponents.

Berry was very good while I thought nank, strachan and to a lesser extent taylor and parnell (before switching) were solid.

I would’ve liked to see one or two of the blue mids switch to the yellow team to give their forwards more of a chance. Towards the end the clearances were heavily in blue’s favour such was the dominance of crouch, laird and rankine in there.

But you seem to don't remember countless inside 50 kicks were he hit his target, he is a very frustrating player just like Murphy.

Absolute bollocks. There weren't countless, there was a total of one in the last year. The rest were pissy little kicks under zero pressure anyone in the comp could make, even big dopey ruckmen.

Just to clarify, with all the things going on at training it isn’t always clear what the match ups are. Ryan was certainly on murphy at least at stages but that does not mean they were matched up 100% of the match sim.

As for murphy himself, it was his first quiet session for a while. Chances are he just had middling game more than anything ryan or any other small defenders did. It wasn’t as if ryan was taking big marks on him or winning 1-on-1s. Murphy just couldn’t find space to receive the ball.

I probably should have clarified better when I wrote that, was a bit on an overstatement perhaps.
I think it was fairly clear , just that some people interpreted it according to any pre conceived bias

But thanks for the clarification in any case , you’re a star

He would have more readers if someone else started the thread😉
The only one’s missing out are the one’s with george on ignore..

and they are pretty much all the club apologists that he constantly calls out for their BS..

threads better without em!..

Hamill training with the A group could be coverage in case Milera doesn't get up.
Hope not..

i’d rather Nank… or even play Curtin off half back.

Hamill is cooked.. unfortunately… he really shouldn't even be allowed to play on this year. He should be forced to retire now.. but they cant do it cause he’s contracted.

so.. they should force him to do so at the end of the season when his contract ends.. and then find him a permanent role with the AFL in a coaching or fitness or administration role of some sort.

its sad.. but there is absolutely no point burning AFL games on him, best to give these to a young player who’s got a future in the game.

.For the As midfield rotations were typically two of Laird/Dawson/Crouch with the other spot filled by one of Rachele/Rankine/Pedlar. Only rarely was the mix Laird/Dawson/Crouch. Thilthorpe attended a small handful of centre bounces to replace rob.

Yeah, baby. Music to my ears (/eyes?)

Pretty typical in intra games

Both teams know what each other is trying to do etc , these games typically don’t have much flow

If everyone played well then we’d likely get flogged in a real game for poor pressure / defending etc

Must have been some good ball movement for Thilthorpe to kick 4 though
