Am I reading the injury reports wrong...

If Weitering and Pitto are listed as 3 weeks and recover exactly on time, wouldn't they come back for the Geelong game? Aren't the weeks usually number of games?

So for example if a guy is listed as 1 week in the Tuesday injury report, he's not playing that weekend but the next.

Heading into Freo they are 3 weeks. Saints 2 weeks. WC still 1 week. Then available for Geelong?
Yeah, that's how I read it. But there's talk of Weiters getting up for the Saints game.

This will be like the Harry situation. The club gives a timeframe, and the player recovers “ahead of schedule.”

I also haven’t given up on Cerra playing this week…they diagnosed it as 2 weeks pretty much straight after the Bombers game on the 10th of June so that would suggest he is a chance to play against the Dockers on the 25th of June.

That may seem the case, in terms of genuine KPD's, but it's not, even if you add possible swingmen and most importantly how many of ours have been injury prone (Omac in the case of KPD's) at the start of this year. Durdin was also an a reactive decision due to our injuries

So keeping in mind, quality, durability heading into this year

Lions - Andrews, Payne, McStay, Gardiner
Tigers - Tarrant, Balta, Gibcus, Miller, Nyuon
Demons - May, Petty, Daw, McDonald, Weideman, M. Brown
Carlton - Weitering, Young, Omac (Let's not include Jones as we had the SSP period to address a replacement)

All other sides went into the start of the season with 25% or more resources in one area, more if you include Omac's injury concerns.

I and others have been banging on about this concern for over 2 years, at what point do people concede that our list management in this area could have been better, rather than leaning on injuries, when you go in with insufficient resources
I'm with you Arrow in relation to our depth issue. List management needs to be better.

In 2020 we delisted Macreadie, Goddard, BSOS. We didn't replace with any developing talls. Only McDonald via SSP in 2021.

100% right on Jones. No idea why we didn't replace in SSP.

Particularly when you see the types of players other teams picked up, namely Paddy Mccartin(syd), Nick Martin (ess) and Jack Hayes (stk). Dixon/strandica (wc)

There were options available for our list at the time...

I think we have been amazing to be positioned 9-4. Little unlucky, but agree with other posters, the players that count are pitto, weits and cerra... not typically injury prone.

We have turned a corner in that we no longer seem to raise the white flag, we fight games out no matter how unlucky we are. Great signs.

The rest, zacW, mcgovern, Omac, marchy, talented yes, but completely unreliable based on history.

Additonally at start of year we really had no idea how well charlie would come back. His form and body, has far exceeded expectations

Makes our list mgt all the more strange, from trade week onwards.

Lastly on Jones. He retired on 14th november 2021.

Club had ample opportunity to replace, which they didnt. Via national draft, preseason draft, rookie draft and ssp. Thats on Mark Austin and brains trust

In the 2021 draft we took Jesse Motlop, in Rookie draft Lochie O'Brien and Matt Cottrell, and Cat B Rookie Dom Akuei. Which one of these would you change to accommodate KPD? Certainly during SSP we could have added to the list, but I suppose the punt was to wait for mid-season draft to reassess needs...

Has the club released their injury update?

If not... that's either really good news coming or some really bad...
They did release an update on the 17th covering Martin & big Durds. And the reserves wrap yesterday included an update on Akuei (missing 2 weeks). But haven't yet seen the regular weekly update, usually released on a Tuesday, but sometimes as late as Thursday.

Looks like they might only be doing a full update every fortnight.
Each player on the injury list on our website was updated on the 30th May or the 14th June, and it doesn't include Durdin, Martin or Akuei.

They didn't do one the week after the bye, but otherwise it has been weekly.

Just on the last bit, Jones retired after the final list lodgement cutoff, so we didn’t actually have the option to replace him in until the SSP (couldn’t at ND, RD or PSD).

We could have reneged on our public commitment to rookie list O’Brien & Cottrell, but that’s probably not great business in terms of player management.

Probably should have had a look at getting someone in the SSP, and by that I mean definitely, but thought it worth noting that it wasn’t quite what you’d outlined. Also, it’s Nick Austin…

Outlandish call:

No injury report cause pitto is back.

(I’m not ITK)

Been told that Weiters and Pitto are both ahead of schedule, we're hopeful of a return for the St Kilda game (in a fortnight) for the two of them.

Not yet. 1-2weeks.

Maybe west coast game.

Nic Nat should be back at the same time. Only plays 60% gametime. Could go on and off with him.

Vossy was asked before Marchbank was set to make his AFL return if he will be managed and he said absolutely not, you don’t manage players at AFL level because it’s like starting the game one man down. Don’t expect Pittonet to be managed on his AFL return.

Unless you meant Nic Nat will only be playing 60% of gametime. :p

I meant nic nat typically has low gametime numbers. Wouldn't expect him to do more than 60-65% in his first game back. Which would be ideal for pitto to match on return, without leaving the team disadvantaged.
