Cuningham could play vfl this week.
Hope so....he was looking great in the preseason training sessions - it's easy to forget how smooth and skillful he is.
Luke Power commented in an interview that at the training camp in Maroochydore, Cunners was doing stuff that even made him go 'wow'.
Fingers crossed, but getting him back would feel like we've just picked up a gun draft pick.

I Love watching Cunningham play football, visually it helps to relax me.

ferrisb swears by them
I tore my ACL playing bubble soccer. Yes, really.

I fractured my foot two weeks ago climbing out of a van.

I am blessed with a unique injury talent.

I think I am Marchbank's spirit animal...

From Vossy's presser on Walsh ...

“He’s tracking well and getting back into main training. With Sam, it’s about taking it a session at a time and a week at a time.
“If he pulls up really well, then we can sit down with a bit more clarity where his return date is likely.

He’s keen as mustard. He would play this week if he could! But we’ve got to look at the total program — he’s pretty smart. We’re not going to do anything that puts him at risk . . . we want him to play 18-20 games for the rest of the year in good health.”

Cuners does shoulder injury 20th of February while wrestling a teammate

Doesn't go in for surgery, where he may have been out fot 3-4 months, expected to be out for 2 months, but back early playing this week in the VFL

Sakc Russell

If gets back and a couple of games in VFL to blow the cobwebs out- what a weapon we will have - still want to know who the DH was that did the damage it isn't easy to achieve that sort of shoulder injury in a "friendly wrestle" and isn't like Cunners looks like a skinny runt with no muscle either. responsible player better be delivering is all I can say - and even then...red line pen in hand.

Didnt go for surgery and has a long injury history...would love for Cunners to have an impact this year but let's be honest it's very unlikely.

Sounds like Marchys injury is a long one too...so unfortunate that he had that 1 game last year then straight back out with injuries that will carry through most of this year.

Just wait for the furore should Cunners hurt his shoulder whilst playing.

DC had finally 'clicked' in the weeks before doing his knee - if he picks up where he left off he'll be primed to take the mid/fwd spot with Fisher either shifted deep or consigned to the VFL
Don't think it has to be Fish who goes out for him. Going to be a few weeks away yet, it will be one out of Fish, Owies, Durds or Mots. Whoever is down on form, or heaven forbid injured.

Did he really? He had 17 - 25 and then 12 with 3 goals total. Not a farcry from his usual career.

1 really good game with 25 & 2 vs Essendon (who he really has a good record against, for some reason - not a bad team to want to dominate imo!) and 1 ok game and one quietish one.

The myth of David Cuningham has run wild imo. He's never been a consistent contributor; he's shown flashes in the odd game. While I absolutely see how in theory he'd be an ideal fit for our needs and makeup of our 22 based on his potential skillset, I don't really see what makes everyone so bullish about his return. Off a very long term ACL and an iffy shoulder no less.

He’s shown signs he can play but IMO he’s not good enough to come back and have a big impact after that kind of layoff. Elite players would struggle with that!

My concern is a lot has changed in AFL and Carlton in the 2 years he has missed so I think there’ll be a longer period of adjustment for him than most on here do.

I do agree with you that he’s competing with Fisher for the high half forward spot so just having him available should be of benefit for that reason alone.
