The same names over recent seasons

No injury report by this stage of the week makes me nervous. Would love to hear that Owies is available and that Cunners, Martin and Marchbank (the big 3 for all the wrong reasons) are playing a half in the VFL next weekend.

The Blues are hopeful that Owies will return at some level as early as this week, but Cuningham, Marchbank and Martin remain a few weeks away. De Koning has entered the AFL's 12-day concussion protocols and won't play. Matt Cottrell (foot) returned through the VFL last weekend. – Riley Beveridge

The AFL websites report isn't really worth anything as they just base if off the most recent club reports. If we haven't given one yet then they just work it out based on last weeks return times.

Us not putting one out yet does make you wonder if they're going to drop a surprise new injury late in the week. Wouldn't be the first time.

That's what has happened automatically, but isn't the case for the above list where each club summary has a reporter's byline.
The AFL list always has that, and that's what has been criticised in the past. I've used it and been told it's rubbish so shrug
Unless it comes from CFC then it's all BS is the rule I think.

Genuine question because I couldn’t find it on afl site - how does 7 on the injured list compare to other sides? Must be average to good?

i would go with:
0-3 - you'd be 'happy' with this low number of injuries
4-8 - the norm for most teams week in week out
9+ - not in a good spot

That is numbers only but no contect in regard to:
  • who is injured
  • and how long they are out for.

Fit and available for selection, has played VFL the past two weeks.
Averaged about 20, 4 marks, 3 tackles. Getting through after a long layoff but not sure he's pushing for selection ahead of someone like Cincotta. From the limited viewing in those two games (only partially watched) it looked to me like he needed a bit more time to get up to speed, in terms of both fitness and touch. Comparatively Cotters physically looked about ready to go, but he's a freak on the fitness front.

Exactly. Good situation to be in - no need to rush a player back and let them get form and an opportunity and knock the door down for a spot. Cincotta has done well and deserves his spot and newman is taking care of the smalls so we arent in the need for a small defender atm.
