I'm gonna take this one a step further.

How could we land the three existing targets, plus Treloar?

Shortest route:

Picks 6 and 41 for Papley and 25.
Pick 25 for Martin (with a late pick swap favourable to GC?).
Pick 72 or 85 for Betts.
2020 first, 2020 second and Casboult for Treloar and 2020 second.

Pick swap with Collingwood assumes that they believe they can still finish above us next year. Reckon there could be some doubt about that if we pulled off those four acquisitions.

Possible circuit breaker - what would folks here think of including Dow in a trade for Treloar, in some capacity? Not ideal, but Treloar would probably keep Dow out of the side for a few years, and that might not be something Paddy is keen on.

My understanding is that if a club trades their future first pick, they cant trade another future pick in the same draft.

Also, I am not keen on the idea of trading Dow. He has been compared to Patrick Dangerfield who from memory took about 4-5 years to reach his potential. I do understand that Treloar can come in and have an instant impact.

The club has been doing huge amounts of extra skill work with Dow since the day he walked into the club. He is extremely driven to improve from everything I’ve heard.
My worry is he has been doing huge amounts of work on it since he was 15 and moved away to Geelong Grammar as it has always been a weakness. That’s atleast 5 years of practicing something with top level coaching. It really isn’t as easy as people think and not everyone can improve as much as some others can.

I think you can't trade your future first and future second in the same draft. But you can trade future first and future third etc.

Alternative you lodge a special consideration to the AFL for their approval.

Really don't want Treloar at Carlton cause he is a big head with more tickets on himself than President Trump.

Also, I doubt The Pies would ever trade to him to us willingly.
No he's not. Treloar makes up a great part of team culture, is one of their best trainers and hardest workers. Lovely guy too.

Isn't Dow being personally trained by Diesel?

Anyway, kicking is a skill, with enough practice you'll inevitably improve. The thing about young players is as they build muscle/strength, it slightly alters their kicking action, it will take a while to adjust to.

Also noticed that a lot of Dow's disposals are from when he's running at full tilt, needs to slow up before kicking the ball to avoid shanks.
I noticed that with my golf swing but it wasn't muscle or strength that I built.

i've met him once before, and he seemed the most humble guy, complete opposite of what you said

Futute quote me on this.

There will come a time when Dow is among the top 5 to 10 players in the competition.

If that comes in a team where Walsh and Cripps maintain their health and career arc we will be unstoppable.

Must be a slow news day if Treloar is being discussed here... zero chance, however you look at it. Gold Coast cheekily asking the question =/= him wanting to move, let alone to us, and Collingwood dealing with us would be a whole other matter, too.

He and Kimmy are probably painting the nursery black and white as I type this. Pretty settled-in there.

Well I will take your word for it. He just comes across as arrogant with what he has said in the past and some of his on field demeanour I don't like.

No, if you trade your future 1st then you can't trade anymore future picks, but you can trade future 2nd, 3rd and even 4th, as long as you still have a future 1st
