How could you not see that Aph was joking??

if this ‘big fish’ rumour does end up developing - my fear is that one of our young talented players could be put on the table to acquire him.

best case scenario we secure Papley and Martin, keeping our future first in tact. But if it is a ‘big fish’, a future first alone will not in itself be enough, and we won’t have a lot of other tradable assets left...

i would seriously love to know who it is..

The club has been doing huge amounts of extra skill work with Dow since the day he walked into the club. He is extremely driven to improve from everything I’ve heard.
My worry is he has been doing huge amounts of work on it since he was 15 and moved away to Geelong Grammar as it has always been a weakness. That’s atleast 5 years of practicing something with top level coaching. It really isn’t as easy as people think and not everyone can improve as much as some others can.
I think ‘improve’ means adopt the Ed Curnow/Carrazzo approach:

Use your agility to create enough space to hit 35m targets.

Thank god Mitch Cleary has just nipped all this Gaff talk in the bud to an imbicle of a caller that rang and asked about it. GAFF IS NOT HAPPENING!!!! Move on...

That's why I'm a little concerned with the potential Gaff trade. If the Eagles dont accept a future first, I worry that we will have to explore trading someone like Fisher to get him over the line.

And just to help out those who also finished work later today from what I've seen so far since reading. Hasn't been too busy but main tidbits;

- TCP said busy morning/night earlier this morning. Would take that as making progress on deals, getting the job done.

- Electric Blue made reference to Gaff with a reference to how to get a big fish onto a boat or something a rather.

- TheRedPill then made an appearance stating that an elite/gun mid has approached us, instead of us approaching them, which is intriguing. No name mentioned, said things might spill out in the next couple of days. Club is deciding whether to move on it or not.

- No news on Papley, Betts or Martin. But I can imagine that they are a part of the busy night we had last night and this morning too.

How would we even land this big fish? 1st this year going to Sydney. 2nd next year most likely going to gc or our future 1st with a second back. So that would leave us with either 2 seconds or 1 first to land this so called big fish? Unless we are trading highly rated kids, it isn’t happening

Possibly but how big a fish can they be if we aren't willing to give up the possibility of Martin or Papley to get them? You don't land a "big fish" with "the best of the rest".

If the big fish is Sloane - it won’t cost much to get him across (and should be easily organised).

Eg - Ryder supposedly going to Saints for Pick 59.

Sloane is 30 next March.

Not that I'm buying into this big fish nonsense. It'll be the 3 small forwards plus Martin and then an unheralded Newman type that come in, think someone like Newnes
