I have no skin in the game; you can call me many things, but angry, no. Interested observer...hell yeah!!

Loving the hypocritical Essendon posters (yours included):
  • "We should walk away if they don't take it".
  • "We've already offered overs".
  • "We can get him for a lot less next year".
The only one's who are angry are you and your Essendon brethren, who are watching another Dodo train wreck, due to his previous dealings with other clubs.

Essendon really want Hill, and have a genuine need for a small pressure forward, so it will hurt when they don't get him. Shooting your nose off to spite your face is not something I encourage..
We have a pair of twins coming next draft, wont hurt too bad.

But hey, continue to pretend you don't have a bone to pick with Essendon

Welp honestly I think it's just not going to happen.

Why would a club trade in a small forward but also lose an "appropriate" (decent) one in the process?

Only way this gets done is if a 3rd club gets involved to facilitate this. And I don't think GWS would be happy with Thomas tbh. Maybe Elliot, but Essendon would need to pay up even more.
Why would they? It's not fantasy footy, they're real people. Real people have lives and want things outside of building a good-on-paper team.

No one is pretending anything. I dislike Essendon. I find their supporters putridly hypocritical.

Enjoy the twins..they may help you win a final in 2030..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Essendon have normally been pretty good with paying fair value for players coming in right? It's really only been for outgoing players that they are tough to deal with. Seems like their offer has been reasonable again and GWS needing a ready to go replacement is the issue here.

Bets on this deal getting done 2mins before the deadline… followed by an AFL.com.au front page spread by damo on how it played out… down to the wire… bla bla 🙄

got to say, as a whole it’s been a very underwhelming trade period

Thanks man, I recommend seeing beyond club colours in future discussions. It will help you out quite a bit to not look like a shit poster.

A future 2nd alone is not pushing it, in fact it's not even getting it done.

We can't give you Thomas + future 3rd for Pick 51 lol, that's suggesting Thomas has negative value.
I'm not saying Collingwood should give it. I'm saying that Hill for a future second and a third implies he's improved his value, which if anything he's regressed on output

I don't necessarily agree but I see where you are coming from.

I think ultimately Hill has outperformed his draft pick given his position (despite his low stats). It would be interesting to compare his output vs Rioli/Cameron at a similar age, Hill would probably be behind, but statistically I don't think it would be a huge difference.

I would love to do pick 27 for Hill if that is available to us. Too bad he doesn't want to join us so there's no point.

Hilarious. If he’s in tears, he should be happy to get to any club not just Essendon.

Probably put out by Hill's manager to the Essendon fan boy's in the media to try make the Giants look like villains/bad guys here.

Bit of manipulation that I hope most footy fans are not too dumb to be sucked in to.

couple of things at play here
Imagine GWS are rightly irked this came from nowhere, super late in the piece
Means they've not planned for it, will be hard to replace him, and they're in the finals hunt.

Other thing is they probably rate him more than a 2nd rd pick given they spent a bit to secure him.
He's only 3 years in and they've just got continuity into his season.

Add to that he's contracted and they can do what they like.
Don't imagine Essendon budge and this falls through. Bit of an "oh well" for us.

hahahaha. GWS don't want to deal Hill for a fair price unless they get a replacement small forward. Dodo's fault. Train wreck.

Don't ask questions if you don't want answers. I have legit no idea what was confusing about it.
Okay... I'm not sure if this is worth clarifying but let's give it a shot...

What I was saying was that, from the perspective of the club trying to trade Bobby Hill in, why would you go ahead with the deal, if the opposition club is demanding a player of the same calibre in the same role you're recruiting for (Hill)?

I mean it's clear that GWS is in their premiership window and won't settle for anything worse than an above average small forward to replace Hill right?
