Wants to move for 'family reasons' yet only wanted to go to the Bombers. Good stuff by GWS holding him to his contract.
It's not like other clubs were going to offer anything more than a second rounder. The offer wasn't the reason they held him to his contract. It's because they couldn't get a replacement small forward

Well that's only true to an extent. If you'd offered Parish they probably would have reconsidered their position.

The kid screwed himself. If he said he wanted to get to Vic he would have at least given the Giants an opportunity to see what was on the table. By nominating a club who obviously weren't that keen he's boxed himself in.

His management shit the bed.

At least now nobody can criticise Dodoro. They never wanted to trade him regardless of the club involved.
Or you could just give a bit more to satisfy GWS to trade the guy you went out of your to get?

Okay... I'm not sure if this is worth clarifying but let's give it a shot...

What I was saying was that, from the perspective of the club trying to trade Bobby Hill in, why would you go ahead with the deal, if the opposition club is demanding a player of the same calibre in the same role you're recruiting for (Hill)?

I mean it's clear that GWS is in their premiership window and won't settle for anything worse than an above average small forward to replace Hill right?
They’re not specifically asking for an Essendon small forward in return. They just won’t let him go until they have secured a good enough small from somewhere. Which they’ve been given nowhere near enough time to do.

First of all, Bobby Hill reached out to us as confirmed by his manager.
Second of all, F2 is already overs. Clearly the offer wasn't the problem. There's no reason to increase that offer.

McCartney already said that they couldn't get a replacement small forward. That's the reason why he didn't entertain a trade. they tried to get Breust and Wingard but both declined.

He never was going to move when his management only had him going to the Bombers. Guarantee the deal gets done if there is a bidding war from Vic clubs on him. Not blaming Essendon either, it is dumb from Hill and his management.

I think the problem is letting GWS know on Friday last week rather than nominating Essendon. Letting them know early gives them time to find a replacement given Greene is suspended for the first 5 weeks. His management certainly screwed that up.

No one knows why exactly why it's only Essendon or bust (especially for a contracted player)

If he has good mates who play at the Dons, that is understandable, but this seems like a very unusual overall, esp after his apparently meltdown today.

well done Giants. Despite the Hearld Sun cheer squad trying their best, the Giants have done exactly what they should have. No time to plan for a replacement, you dont let others fleece you. You want him, you pay up. Simple

I dunno. Sounds like the main issue was GWS wanted a replacement forward. They would've taken Bruest or Wingard (and Hawthorn would've dealt them) but neither player would go to GWS. So they kept Hill.

Tough spot for Bobby, he wants be in Victoria to support his family. Won’t surprise me if he sits out of footy for a year and there are no winners from this…

If he wanted to be in vic so bad he wouldn't have cared which club he went to, except for maybe Geelong.
