Just shocking. Until we got a run on in the last, we never even looked capable of getting close. Players walking around, heads down, just generally looking beaten all night.

Very evident at the ground and very disappointing, especially in a game that while we were never in, were never really out of either.

Said the same thing at the game. Only Nick Dal, and to a lesser extent Thompson, appeared to try to gee up their teammates. The rest of them just appeared consigned to their fate.
Goldy does a good hand on hips pose.

Tell tale signs.... 2nd quarter Hawkins marks on the line between the goal and point posts so he's on the sharpest possible angle. Here's a bloke who's a terrific player but doesn't always exude confidence in his own kicking. He'll often dish off or play on off an arc. Given the angle Blind Freddy could see that he'd play on and snap it so any team switched on would instinctively get a bloke in there to stop him. Nope. Every North bloke in the zone has hands on hips and switches off. Hawkins inevitably plays on and...rams it into the post (but that's not the point). Third quarter it happens again with Hawkins more or less in front and this time he kicks a goal. WAKE UP!

I think of all the sides around the 5-11 part of the ladder we are at times the most physically unintimidating to the point of being passive. So we're getting beaten and we're not looking like getting out of it. But who's crashing in? Who's running that extra bit to every contest? Who's tackling his guts out? Who's showing a bit of campaigner? Who doesn't look resigned to losing? No one. I'd like a stat called "win backs." That is, when Team A have the ball and don't necessarily do anything wrong, but Team B get the ball back off of them just through pressure and effort. I'm not going to bother watching last night's game again but I'd say that if we had any 'win backs' it wouldn't have been until late in the game.

It wasn't a BAD loss in the end. But how we lost was disappointing. We look like a finals side, but only one that could be dispatched out of them very easily and was hoping for more this year.

Who is to blame for this? Players or coaches? Watching melbourne play recently it just shows what a great coach is capable of. Will we be satisfied with an ok coach or be like freo and try lure one of the best?

But we were better than anyone last year in contested stuff, in effort, under the same coach, with the same players. Who is to blame? They all are.

Swallow has not kicked more than 25m. His body language suggests he does not want to. So far in the 2 likely cases he has been presented he has kicked into the man on the mark and dished it of to Dal to ping at the goals.

Watching the half time show of Kelly's 23 possessions, Cunnington shuffling like Cliffy Young in every shot was not a good look.

Looked more up beat after the siren all trying to get around Big H for a quick boof.
