He has a regular time slot on radio every week. He has stated that over and over again. Have ever even listened to his interviews. I suspect not.
What he's doing is the equivalent of an auctioneer taking a bid from a tree. It works if it's in the middle of high intensity bidding and no one noticed that it's not real.

But in this case it's the first bid, followed by awkward silence

No one is offering band 1 terms. That’s pie in the sky stuff. He’s averaged 11 games a season for his career. Clubs aren’t that stupid. They’ll get end of first round.

Sure, but when the Crows match, then what?

The question to ask is if a club would prefer to give away their first round pick, or pay him more and get him as a FA?

I think his manager put in a vendor bid last year.

There hasn't been a time yet where a club yet has matched a bid to force a trade. They have all gone straight to trade before a bid with mutual agreement from the club. The most likely case is to avoid compensation loss. Even danger wasn't bid on. Geelong agreed to go straight to trade. I can only remember 1 player bid matched and they didn't get traded. I think if crows match a bid it is because brad and crows agreed on his worth and he stays. I don't think that will happen now. I think it will be either crows tell him he no longer has a place there or he will accept a 1 year offer at crows. If you look into the article about the tigers interests. It said it the interest was before the drug incident.

After BCrouch drug bust.
His value is diminished. So Adelaide will have to keep him or accept very late first round if lucky.
Geelong could be generous enough to cough up their last first round pick. (16) which would be just a bit better than end of first round(20) or second round(22).
Those picks will also be pushed back due to GWS compensation for Williams and Corr. And during the draft a lot of the Academy players set to be bid on fairly early.
Adelaide should just keep him now.

It's been rumoured Richmond have been keen on him since 2017.

Whether the bid is officially lodged and bid is irrelevant, it effectively follows the same flow.

OK, my last word on this...for tonight.

If he doesn't get a band 1 contract, he might stay, meaning his value is lower than what his manager is telling him. In that case, crows get a 'bargain' and can probably reduce his wage.

If not, the destination club needs to consider if they want to pay an extra $100k a year or cough up their first round pick+. That'll be a decision for the destination club and will be dependant on where they finish on the ladder, plus their TPP situation.

I just don't see a situation where pick 20 is the compo.

O you mean like how blues offered Williams band 1 compo contract when he has averaged 14 games per season over the same time?
Go on....

Crows could get a bargain on him but they are not supporting him publicly. That's not what you do if you're keeping someone and it shows that a matchbis a bluff

Name any team that appears to be after him that has cap space to burn.

The Cats can reshuffle enough for a Cameron bid and though I feel this is the clear plan B to that plan, I Don't think it's a strong enough plan to justify the cost of the reshuffle if it's significant cap.

O I agree... but he made a point that no one would offer enough due to injury history when blues just offered enough with the same injury history...

Well he's a seasons worth of games ahead of brad so I wouldn't say it's the same but I get your point.

Remains to be seen what the threshold for compo is for these players too as we're all running around quoting total package values for players but compo only considers base and that's the one that takes a hit for high injury players. Brad could even get a 750k contract and find it's Band 2.

West coast were very surprised by the compo for Scott Selwood for example.

How do you know Rocky "just missed band 1".

No one even knows how the formula works so these statements seem suss.
His preferred interpretation of a single vague comment from the AFL to a fan base angry that their former captain and genuine stat pig midfield beast went for the same compo as a half forward that vagues out of matches regularly.

It has been pointed out that that this is not a meaningful statement many times but it just gets ignored. It keeps getting brought up because there no examples of actual band 1 for contracts that small so they have to do some tortured logic
