Free Agency Brad Crouch [joins St Kilda as a RFA for pick 23]

I think if the paperwork is lodged for any free agent this season then the player is gone for the compensation pick, no matter what it is.

I’m predicting that Cameron will be a trade. That may be instead of lodging the paperwork rather than after.

And I think zero chance that crouch is a trade.

The issue I have with Crouch is that he was caught holding the bag with Cocaine (even though I firmly believe it was Stengle's coke, not his)

If It was just some weed/hash, I doubt there would be so much of a furore really.

Devil's dandruff vs Devil's Parsley

All shits n gigs

Hope the Crows get pick 2 to ruin some clubs fun

I'm done with this league if we finish 17th and end up with pick 4 or 5.

The system is so screwed up currently. FA compo and acadamies are far worse than priority picks ever were.

Such a ******* mess the game is in atm.
5 years at 550-600k for Ellis last year got the Tigers band 3 compo.

No way this nets them band 1

You are correct and also wasting your breath. They're emotionally invested
I think you're right...I don't really understand why a supporter can't maintain a
A year older didn't get the age points. And Brouch will be 100k more.
Means band 1 sorry bud.
Been reported offer will need to exceed 700K sorry bud.

Ah yes 5 months age difference and 100k bumps it up 2 more tiers.

If the AFL gifts band 1 it has a hell of a lot more to do with ladder difference than the contract

15 for Crouch straight deal?

Would be fair.

Interesting pickup for the Saints. He is in the right age bracket to give them 5 good years. If he gets injured again though then there is a lot of cash potentially sitting on the sideliner with Crouch and Hannerberry. Good player when fit, but I'm not sure he really elevates them. Would have been better holding out for a Whitfield/Kelly from GWS IMO.

People are dumb if they don’t think a large number of players in the league get on the bags in the off season. Getting on the beers kills their skinfolds, bags don’t. What do you think they are doing in Europe and the US every year? Not sight seeing. These are well off kids in their 20’s, most not well of people in their 20’s dabble. He just got caught.
You're speaking from your own frame of reference, this is not true of everyone.

Brad is a good pickup for the Saints, he is a good player, he will be rated higher playing in Victoria. His injuries record is also over played.

I don't support it but anyone that has been around around Football clubs know what players get up to. I doubt the incident the other week alarmed too many clubs in this particular case. He doesn't have off field issues like many others.

How is his injuries record overplayed, has played 8 seasons, 2 full season wipeouts, 2 seasons he played nearly full seasons and averaged just 13 games a season in the other 4. So over 8 year career averages playing about 1/2 a season a year

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS - 2020
Brad Crouch (Adelaide)
Zac Williams (GWS) - Band 1
Jack Viney (Melbourne) - Re-signed with Demons
Brad Ebert (Port Adelaide) - Retired

These are the only midfielders (Williams HB I know) that wouldn't have cost anyone a draft pick come this trade period.

Brad Crouch is the only one that's left. He's desperate to stay in Adelaide, but he'd already knocked back a contract from us based on the $$'s and years offered, which means he's at least partially motivated by money and conditions, which is fair enough.

Similar to the situation at Carlton, other clubs would have had a few years running their salary cap at the minimum, and would have a bit of coin to throw around. If you were someone like Essendon/Saints, and could offer something heavily front ended whilst protecting your draft picks, why wouldn't you?

Desire to stay in Adelaide - Strong
Desire for contract yrs/$$ - Strong
Desire for success - Strong?

No one club can offer all of these, and you can argue until the cows come home about which of these three categories he prioritises. But that's exactly what it will come down to, and no one had a clue where his preferences lie.

If I could hazard a guess I personally think a team will come in and offer a heavily front-ended 4 year contract with a trigger for a 5th, and it'll be high enough the Crows wont match. No forced trading, and it will be Saints that makes the offer. Every indicator tells me that he's not going to move somewhere like Richmond or Geelong on less coin purely just for the opportunity for success. Happy to bookmark this one!

Ok, I'll use my brain.. He won't get what you need him to get to get justify a band one compensation...The two speculated offers I've read get not even close to what you'd need. I am not sure why you think it takes me to "use my brain" given that's the evidence that's been presented to this point. That in conjunction with all the previously made point lead me to believe he's not going to get a contract that's not in line with what Adelaide would need. I could be wrong, we shall see. The consensus seems to be the Crows will be left with band two...Its not a knock on your club, its just how I see this playing out.

*coughs obnoxiously*

danielG I'll just leave this one here.

Still a bit to play out, but I don't see Saints offering something low enough that the Crows would match and force a trade..

Course not. The way the media works is that if you have had success you can whip up hysterical emotions about FA.

Crouch to Cats = pick 11 or Parfitt etc. is the absolute minimum. Have picks so will pay.

Crouch to Saints = pick 21 isn’t much different to pick 15 and we love free movement.

Would be fair.

Won't happen, that Pick 15 will end up around Pick 20 after compo picks added and bids on FS/NGA players come draft night.

Weird take. Him in the midfield allows Gresham or Billings to go forward which both have shown to be great at. Kent/Likud out and we’re much better off

Let's not pretend that Cameron and Crouch are in the same stratosphere in terms of ability or output.
