Confirmed for Pick 28 + A few other trade of picks.

Josh Hill, Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan are also involved in the trade.

Welcome to the Club Brad.

Pick 28 is very good for Brad, dont doubt that.

Just have to wait and see what else we get.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Well I am happy that he is here, but it's a long long way between 6 and 51.

thats good news im happy with that :) :thumbsu:

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Just to confirm,

There is more to come with this trade, but announced on TWR that he is now a Port player.

We will be getting some further pick/s from this imo.

Who knows what other trades are to come.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Hmmmmmm ...

That would mean Hill failed his test or got knocked on the head I guess, so we end up going the direct option.

Dislike having nothing between 6 and 50ish.

EDIT:

The BF trade board has it as:

Pick 28 + 49 + Josh Hill to the Eagles for Ebert + 45.

but makes no mention of GWS/Chad/Dean ... but 49 is a GWS pick.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

TWR still on add break damn it!! I didn't hear anything :(

Great to hear that he is a Port player if true, but I want to know the details of this trade! Do not like the sounds of pick 6 -> pick 51 :S

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Congrats.

Rhode backed off his demand of not giving up 6 or 28 pretty quickly - fair trade in the end given the contract situation.

Hope him well.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

unless that is a pick between 30-35 coming our way this has been a complete f%^& up.

nothing against brad, he is an alright player, he will be an upgrade on several players who just pad out the end of our 22, but to bring in 2 such players ( with renouf) and giving up a chance to really improve is damaging.

the point is what we really lack is the top quality players. we need those they are how we will really move up, not just move from 16th to 12th but really become a finals team.

those players normally come in the very top picks but are also littered through the draft. the more work you do and the more you take the better than odds. ie, pick 28 or 33 may not work out to be a star but you have twice the chance of picking up a star over someone who just has pick 30. over time the odds will really show, back yourself to find the talent but also its a numbers game and your number aint gunna come up if you dont have one.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Just means that we need to unearth some quality with the later picks.

Welcome aboard Brad. As I've posted many times before, I would not be disappointed if WHE comes to us with pick 6 now to complement Brad's skillset and the deficiencies of our midfield.

Let's also get someone half decent with PSD 3

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

the difference between picks 28/ 33 and 45 is massive

so so massive in this draft. 28 and 33 the depth is still there. at 45 it will be very very speculative. the weakness of this draft you hear about has nothing to do with the top players they are refering to how quickly it drops off. ild compare the guys available at pick 45 to be closer to the rookie draft than players available at picks 28/33. huge huge downgrade.

basically means we get one shot at a star with 6, and drafting 2 hugely speculative players like ryan williams/ rischbieth with those picks. hell we might get lucky but i wouldnt be surprised if any player at 45 wouldnt be available at 51. frak couldnt have 45 been used on a ruckman like renouf??

so much for gaining some improvement around the ground. we have just upgraded thomas and d.stewert ( only in the ruck, stewert is 10 x the forward renouf is). pity those 2 players while not great are not alone why we only had 3 wins.

the other problem here is did we just give up cornes and brogan without protection for our list and without compensation picks for pick 45?? because that is just plain stupid.

What alternative did we have?

You dont rate Boak, Harlett, Gray, Butcher, Trengove as future top quality players???

For christ sake man!! Give these guys some time to develop along with all the other kids on our list

Both players we have traded for were higher picks in supposedly stronger drafts and have a few years experience. They are much more known quantities than picks taken around 30 in a weak draft.

They aren't big signings, but were we ever going to get one with picks 28 and 33?

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Honestly for a rebuild, this year is shit. I imagine we will use ~five picks next year.
This year? Last year we get a new coach. New coaches usually sweep a broom through lists. Ours got the equivalent of a slap on the wrist by a wet lettuce. This year our culling of the list beyond enforced 'retirements' has been as about as traumatic to our fringe players as a drunken supermodel making a pass at you. :(:mad:

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Very happy to get Brad.

Not so happy with gap in draft picks, but its not over yet. Renouf trade was unneccasary IMOO, but he is young and I'm happy to welcome him to the club.

We really need a pick in the 30's at the latest, as it is we aren't gonna have much to choose from.
