Before the 1992 draft he told several clubs that he would not play for them if he was drafted and only wanted to play for Collingwood. Both he and the Magpies landed in hot water and although he was drafted by Collingwood he stayed in South Australia.
The following year he was traded to the Crows. After 4 seasons at Adelaide he was traded to Port in exchange for Ian Downsborough, playing 25 games for Port in 1998-99.
A good mark, he never reached the heights that many had predicted as a key position player and could not nail down a regular place at either of his two clubs.
