Nothing official but I think the intention is the PB's will be allowed full time in the reserves competition as it is not televised. Unless the AFL has other plans in regards to television and marketing on a reserves competition.
VFL is definitely televised in VIC
Free to air.

Why would we care about wearing the PBs in the VFL or AFL reserves comp? It actually diminishes the status of the guernsey to relegate it to reserves guernsey. At least in the SANFL there is the associated history albeit it's now effectively a reserves team. In the VFL or AFL reserves comp, who cares.

Let me tell you what is going to happen.

- a) The VFL will allow Port to wear the prison bars in the VFL competition, as a way to get Port and Adelaide away from the SANFL and into their monopoly

- b) The AFL will then refuse to let Port wear the prison bars in the AFL reserves competition once they split the VFL into AFL Reserves and a revamped VFL

If you can't see that coming you are wearing a blindfold.

I refuse to accept that joining a VFL/AFL reserves is a good idea.
Renegotiate with the SANFL until it resembles the 1970's structure or be the AFL's bitches in perpetuity.
At least, don't agree to being duped until the Crows do their Pinocchio in 2028.

Unfortunately though, the current board work in the interests of the AFL first, and the club second.
So lube up boys.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice ...

IIRC the topic was briefly discussed at the AGM, I think their expectation is home games at Alberton will be with us wearing the PBs, but the scenario Interstater described above would not surprise me in the slightest.

Yea this and the magpies nick should be mothballed completely when we join.

It’s a good looking jumper. You’re never getting the one you want so might as well embrace the elite teal
i actually agree with you. I would give it the iconic white number panel with black numbers though. Silver bars on black, would probably be even better. As long as we get to wear the traditional strip a couple times a year in showdowns, i'd be all for it.

But I think the board is probably just fed up with this same proposal coming up every few weeks from an oppo fan like it's the first time it's ever crossed anyone's mind. I'm not saying it is the case this time, as i have no idea if you are being genuine or not but it can come across as trolling when the same thing gets repeated over and over. But i don't really understanding why we aren't embracing this as a genuine option, it's really how we should've entered the comp in the first place.

Lookie here.

We should not be wearing the PBs ONCE a year thats a JOKE anytime we choose in SA or interstate except against Collingwood we wear an alternative.

"Port would retain its club name, jumper and colours, but a separate strip would be developed for those matches it played against Melbourne club Collingwood, which also wears black and white and also is known as the Magpies.

Mr Weber said Port would develop a new club emblem and would not use the Magpie in the AFL competition."

That one time a Cornsey article read like an El_Scorcho post.
Cornesy nails it, but it's stopped clock syndrome. If we changed to Pirates he'd write an article in support of Power despite all his 1996 predictions being spot on in 2024.

I respectfully disagree.
All I see is us slowly watching the people that care about the bars die off while the filibustering continues.

If you go to games, you'll see plenty of people wearing the bars who weren't alive in 1996. They didn't need to be there to know what the guernsey means to this club.

People embrace the history and heritage of their football clubs. It's a huge part of being a supporter. It's because of this that the bars will live on when we're all dead.

There are thousands at every game, with the numbers growing as it becomes available to buy,
