If Koch actually said that the PBs are not a PAFC guernsey he needs to go immediately.

No he didn't say that. He said it's a Magpies and sanfl guernsey. It was his response to why he said he wouldn't request to wear it in a gf.

He shouldn't be making such a distinction. If not for Collingwood, we'd be wearing it in the afl because it's OUR club guernsey. We wouldn't have replaced it upon entering afl.

I'm mainly curious if the club has ever privately acknowledged any fears of potential harm or sanctions for "pestering" the AFL for lack of a better word.

Nothing explicit but my sense was that they were highly conscious of repeating the request every year and aiming for a pitch that got them a ‘win’ that gave the guernsey exposure while still maintaining its rarity.

Not entirely impossible that calling out the club could kick them into gear. They'd never publicly say it but I do have to wonder if the league's ever threatened anything. Would go against Gill saying he thought it was a fair request, interesting comments given he ended up knocking it back the same year.

Wouldn't surprise me if something resembling a threat was made privately. In reading The Boy's Club it really gave a sense of just how much what the league and it's officials say in public is not always aligned with what they say in private.

Collingwood should be allowed to wear whatever they like without any other club telling them what they can or can't wear.

We would be hyprocritical to say anything else.

Always remember that our issue is with the AFL and not Collingwood - do not buy the AFL's nonsense that this is an issue between the two clubs.

To respond would be petty, but some pettiness might be needed here. This issue only exists because of pettiness on their end, and us taking the high ground hasn't worked.

It's a territorial claim, very clearly. As was their switch to a predominantly black guernsey in the late 90s, and using a similar design to this for the AFLW.

To think they're not attempting to muddy the waters with launching this design is underestimating what they're up to.

It's a remake of the 2003 version and that was 100% an attempt to ape the PBs. I don't think it really infringes on ours enough for me to care in a vacuum but the intent is absolutely there. We should make a comment publicly, even if it's as simple as getting Kornes to call it out for what it is. This is Collingwood copying us far, far more than we ever copied them.

They already have the territory they are black & white in this comp.

They can pretty much do whatever they like with design, if that's as close as they get to the PB's it's a complete non issue.
