Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

I really hope the crows don't give up a first rounder for a 28 year old

I do :)

I doubt most of this noise but if in fact Gibbs wanted to move back to Adelaide why can't he go to Port?

Not the worst get for us... but wouldn't want to effectively give up Hartlett for Gibbs or something like that, doesn't seem to achieve much.

Agree, to be honest I don't think Hamish suits us as we are looking for younger players anyway as much as I like him.

We need to chase players like Gibbs and Rockliff with our 2016 & 2017 1st round picks. While our forwards are making us win games with a fairly poor midfield and defense is holding up ok with bad midfield pressure we need to add class to achieve ultimate success. Won't happen through the draft as we need to to develop a kid or 2. The time is now Gibbs and Rockliff are gettable we just need to trade both 2016 & 2017 1st rounders out with extras. I think 2017 1st CEY and Douglas for Gibbs and pick 13 and Hartigan for Rockliff. Thats my opinion the players could change as per blues and lions requirements.

Agree with your theory - but that is massively, massively overpaying from our end!

Laughable some Blues supporters think Gibbs is worth more than Adelaides first rounder but also think that on trading that pick alone is fair for Tom Mitchell.
So are you saying Gibbs and Yarran are around the same value or is Yarran worth more than Gibbs? I'm trying to get a handle on where you value Gibbs.

Well I hope we don't have to trade Gibbs, but if we contemplate the move the Crows 1st rounder will not be enough of that you can be certain.
Why would we give a first rounder plus for a 28 year old underachiever with three years left in him?
He is worth more to you than he is to us.
Bernie Vince has done more than Gibbs and he went for a second at the same age and under contract.
Best he stays at Carlton.

It's no more laughable than you suggesting Gibbs and Tuohy for Mitchell would be a good result for Carlton.

Really? A 28 year old Gibbs with 4 more years on the clock and a 27 year old half back who averaged 20 possessions in a career best year?
Mitchell for these two would be a good investment in the future for the blues.

Douglas only goes to free up cash plus he wasn't that good in the role he had this year. If blues used him as a midfielder he ain't too bad. I think we have to pay overs we can't use Danger trade as a reference.

Only steak knives more then the 1st rounder a lyons or Douglas type not a required player like McGovern though.

Gibbs isn't going anywhere but if the Crows want to get him out of his 3 remaining years at Carlton, something unbelievable would have to be offered
Agree. Hear it's a bit of a beat up.
However it would be in the Blues best interests to let him go to get players that will be there for future success. Similar to our Deledio situation.

Adelaides first could be on traded for Marchbank and Stewart which GWS would probably take.

Remember when Carlton used to build teams by picking SA apart, and not the other way around?

Gibbs into the Crows would make them a damn serious unit, and a top 4 lock IMO. Mind you I said the same about Yarran/Richmond :drunk:

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I spose we all seem to overate our own players.

I'm not overrating Gibbs or Tuohy. I'm just suggesting you've once again shown you are way out of your depth when it comes to Carlton's list.

I'd definitely prefer Tom Mitchell to a 28 year old Gibbs and a 27 year old half back flanker at my club.

Exhibit A.

Given where we're at it would be madness to trade one of best players who is contracted for another 3 years + a "half back flanker" who would walk into just about every starting 22 in the competition for Tom Mitchell.

Nah, I had Carlton supporters last year demanding pick 12 and Lennon or GTFO for Yarran of all players.

I'm used to them overvaluing their players.

And it seems under rating players they are keen to pick up.

Seems a common theme this year as well. Marchbank for a future second rounder and Mitchell for a pick in the mid teens seems to be the Carlton supporter groupthink.

I admire your stance on Gibbs (and Tuouy) but like us with Deledio, their best will be behind them when it's time to challenge. And Mitchell would instantly become your top 2 mid with Cripps.

Unfortunately clubs don't trade for what players have done in their careers, but their future output.

TMitch has 8 years of quality ahead of him. Gibbs has 4. Tuouy, who knows, he's had one year averaging 20 posies a game and that's it.
