Whilst the twitter account may be fake, Boots is up for trade. He has nominated West Coast as his preferred destination and the club is currently in talks with them to get a deal done.

Where was that mentioned bluegal?

Just catching up on all the trade talk.

“For the kids” – remembering Ted Dumaresq
Sometime in 1965, the late Ted Dumaresq came up with an idea that would have massive ramifications for the game at its most rudimentary level.

From there the concept materialised, as Dumaresq’s wife Pauline recently explained.

“Graham Donaldson, who had not long retired from the Carlton seniors and was coaching the seconds as I recall, also worked with the State Savings Bank (now the Commonwealth Bank) at the time and it was he who put the proposal to the bank to be a sponsor. In the end a meeting was held and all but three League teams from memory agreed to field a team. This was 1967, the year the State Bank Little League started.”

Pauline remembered that the kids, amongst them the likes of Steven Smith, Geoff Raines and Ted Whitten jnr, would take to the vast expanses of the old suburban venues like Princes Park and chase the leather up and down the entire length of the playing field.

I remember the little rabbits using the entire MCG. They could barely move it out of a pocket let alone score but history will show goals were kicked. I used to take it as a bit of an omen if our State Bank Little League team won. Wore club jumpers too, not like this sanitized stuff today. Memories. Think they were memories...

I remember when I was young they used to show the scores of the little league game on the screen during the third quarter. Was always a good sign if we'd won.

On Portlaoise’s Main Street, the Aussie Rules player sticks out like Uluru against the landscape. The beard is all scrag, levelling out a good inch under the point of his chin. The full-arm tattoo peeks out from under his left sleeve. Even in baggy clothes, the broad frame says think again, pal.

Nice little article. I love Zach, he's the full package really and his confidence and flair (that he can actually back up, I'll add) is something we don't have a lot of in our team, so he's been a real nice addition to our club.

To think he has only been here for 4 years and he has been a consistent member of our 22 for at least 2 of those.

Try playing on the full VFL park when you are 11. The pie and the Big M were always the highlight after the game.

Played little league for Footscray a couple times when I was a pup, the western oval seemed so big.
For the record, we got belted both times, once by the blues in fact, so I didn't mind to much, was lucky enough to kick a point in one game :)
I played little league for Hawthorn against West Coast at Subi oval in the Eagles first home final in 1991.

Two kids collided in the first 2 mins of the game and one kid ended up with a massive gash in his head and they had to get the stretcher and st john ambo people out to tend to him. By the time they had got him off the field the siren had gone and it was game over.

I remember dishing out high 5's to anyone and everyone as we ran a lap of the ground before we lined up at the race for the big boys to run out for the second half.

I have a feeling my parents still have an old VHS copy of the little league game at home some where. Which is pretty much 20 mins of footage of 35 kids standing round twiddling their thumbs and one poor kid on a stretcher.

Thanks for posting the article, Mark Goldberg....whoops, I mean.......blueboy25 :thumbsu:

Tuohy has the build, the power and the skills to play midfield and could be very damaging with his kicking and goal sense. Just a few questions would be regarding his endurance. There were a few games this season where he looked to peter out towards the end. Would be well worth a shot in the pre-season comps on the ball. In the end it would come down to his endurance I believe. Either way, you take a player like him from defence, you need to be able to replace them. His overlap run is very valuable and that's what we lack. Hopefully we get Docherty and hopefully he is the sort to follow up his own work and provide overlap run and release players like Tuohy, Simpson and our best overlap runner Walker further up the field.

yes, does he have the endurance?

He didn't grow up playing midfield that's for sure
