Bryce Gibbs has become the star Carlton fans have long thought he could be since moving into the midfield this season, a switch that came after Blues coach Mick Malthouse asked the South Australian where he wanted to play.
Gibbs had pinch hit in the midfield before this season, memorably helping to turn last year's first elimination final against Richmond with his clearance work.

But 2006's No.1 draft pick spent the majority of his first seven seasons at Visy Park at half-back, where his elite kicking and decision-making made him a valuable playmaker for Carlton.
Gibbs told AFL.com.au on Wednesday that his permanent move into the midfield this year had come after a pre-season discussion with Malthouse.
"(The midfield) was where I wanted to play my footy," Gibbs said.

CLUB STATEMENT

Carlton player Mitch Robinson will miss 3-4 weeks after scans revealed he has suffered a fractured eye socket.

The injury was sustained in the early hours of Sunday morning, following an altercation in the city, when Robinson was with teammate Jeff Garlett.

The two players who have been rumoured to be not happy with Malthouse, are the same two breaking team rules..
I'd hate to lose either of them but if it is a case that they don't like Mick then I'd rather have 2 different players who are committed to the club no matter who coaches them...

Yea I am all about backing Mick now. I feel like he is the man to lead us to success. It is really disappointing that Mitch and Jeff would be out at 5 am. I get that it was his birthday but he is a professional athlete and there are club rules.

My first reaction is that he will be trade bait now for sure but then again Mick hung in with Didak and Shaw whose offences make Jeffy and Mitch look like Saints. He has a soft spot for bad boys I think.

How about we put things into perspective with the fact that Robbo has a broken eye socket. Frankly I couldn't give a toss about trade value when someone has ended up with facial fractures because of a group of stupid people late at night. Yes Robbo and Jeffy probably shouldn't have put themselves in this position. But I for one would rather offer support to an injured Carlton player than a scathing summary of a situation that no one fully understands yet.
