That's fine. But let's not pretend like he's done nothing wrong here. He's put himself in the situation, he now lives with the consequences.

I can safely tell you I've never ended up in a scuffle after drinking. But I deliberately don't drink to the point I can't control myself. Something Mitch should be doing.

It will likely be a mixture of the two. You can't be lying to the club for the best part of a week and expect everything to be fine.
So you're choosing to ignore the fact that no evidence is on hand to suggest that Robbo and Jeffy are to blame for the scuffle?

How about giving them a chance in that regard? For all we know they could have been set upon for no reason........

Robbo's biggest problem is not fessing up on Sunday. Administrators hate being blind-sided.

At least they're not accused of punching someone like White has been. Hopefully they pull their heads in and work their way back into favour. The fact that Robbo tried to hide his involvement says he cares about staying at Carlton.

Of course they could. Never disputed that.

You don't help yourself being in those situations. Like it or not, professional footballers now need to behave like professionals.

The fact that neither of them have been charged, and the other group of men has, tells me that the fight isn't jeffy and robbo's fault...so can we please not paint them out to be a pair of thugs?
Nobody called them thugs.

Nobody was doing that either.

All I was saying was that it's unlikely that they were completely innocent. I've been in situations like that before, people don't generally punch on for no reason. Words are said etc etc.

Just because they play for Carlton, it does not make them angels.

Sorry, but plenty of people start fights for no reason other than they think it makes them look like a hero.

And don't patronise me. I know they're not angels, but they're also not the devil. They haven't been charged with anything, so the police obviously don't think they've done too much wrong.

Disagree Mebby. I grew up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney (really, really rough area) and have been involved in more scuffles than I care to admit. Occasionally some hero will hit someone. 90% of the time, something has caused the reaction.

It frustrates me the pedestal these blokes get put on. If this was McInnes or some random player from some random club, he'd be getting a completely different reaction from the navy blue faithful. It's just the way it is.

Did I not just say don't patronise me? I couldn't care less who they play for.

I've been mugged. My cousin was hospitalised for looking at someone in a subway restaurant. I've had a friend die from being punched in the head for doing nothing other than walking through Fed Square. There is a shit pocket of society that thinks inflicting harm on others is cool and I won't justify it even a little bit by assuming Jeffy and Robbo were at fault when there is no evidence to suggest they were.

I'm done with this conversation.

It may not make them angels but it certainly makes them targets

I wasn't patronizing you. Telling you my experiences shouldn't insult you. I'm sorry you had the experience that you had with your friend, truly I am, but I haven't done anything wrong and don't appreciate being snapped at.

It's not about where you live or your experiences, it's you implying that I think they're angels because they play for Carlton that I have an issue with.

Agreed. Whitey had the same issue earlier in the year. It's all about being smart with the situations you allow yourself to be in.

I never said you did think that. It's common among society for these guys to be held in a higher regard than your average member of the public. It's wrong but it's just the way it is.

Sanction them for being out at 5 am, that was wrong for a professional footballer.

There was a period a while ago gym junkies would take bets and wait outside clubs to see how many punches it took to knock someone out.

Let the police handle the scuffle people are allowed to defend themselves and if they hadn't done anything wrong besides be there punish them for breaking curfew (assuming we have one, if not stupid on the clubs behalf)

If evidence comes back and they get charged for assault then punish them for that.

Some people just wanna fight a footballer because they are more like a trophy to them, the most be tough.

No offence mate, but sometimes it doesnt matter how smart you are. You can be the best driver in the world and still get hit by some other idiot. The same is true in pubs, Ive seen people walking down the street get mugged for literally no reason. Ive seen fights start in pubs over nothing at all. Unfortunately people can and do punch on for no reason. Your own experience notwithstanding.

Players - like everyone - are proven innocent until guilty. Especially our own. No one expects them to be angels, no one should be writing them off as inherently wrong either.

You can't compare your own experiences with a professional footballer. They attract dickheads like flies.
You'd need a very thick skin to avoid pulling a Simon White. I'm surprised that kind of thing doesn't happen more often

No offence taken at all. Totally understand where you're coming from. All I was trying to say was that 'most' (being the key word) of the time it takes two to tango. It doesn't justify what's occurred to the two of them in this case of course.

It does but we just don't hear about every incident.

Had have the police not been called would have we even heard about this episode.

Given we now have the name Robinson attached it makes it so much juicier and headline grabbing.
