It's every week. They could play him in a traditional follower role and he'd get 30 possessions every week and everyone would be happy, but they're playing him in a more damaging role ahead of the ball where he can split the game open and get involved in a heap of our goals. I think he's having a very good year, except for a couple of quiet games post flu.
Agree.
Tbh, I think DeGoey just lacks those soft hands to be that perfect onballer… but, he’s doing a very good job for us.
The guy that will give us the touch of magic dust around the ball will be Nick Daicos. I’m frustrated with him being down back (Owies slipped him in the last and it hurt us). I want to see him off half forward and spend moments through the middle. His nous in the forward half will be a real weapon.

No changes for mine, unless none of Hawks three rucks plays then maybe Cox out (which would be a shame as he did well in crunch moments).

Would prefer no change though to further build chemistry in the team as we have had quite a few changes almost every game this year.

Agree with you on Nick. I’d rather him get less of the ball but in the forward half. With that said, yep, Owies did slip him, but he had two huge moments to make up for it: when he took the ball from the spillage at pace under immense pressure, and then we he had to stick a tackle in the middle of the ground against a much bigger opponent (can’t recall who it was)…. and he did. Critical moments… he is a gem.

The best bit is, this is Nick’s first real year of footy in 3… 2020 and 2021 were a (covid) write-off. If he can learn on the job this year and have a solid pre-season, he will be insane.

You reckon? Playing so many games in a debut year off no preperation concerns me.
Yeah, just a couple games. They dont yet feel the need to rest him. But if its necessary, they will.
They usually manage his training loads during the week so he gets up for game day.

I'm liking Daicos off half back. Hands are so clean and decision making so sharp that he's really helping us to mop up those ground balls and clear defence effectively. He and Noble are really getting that ball out of 50 easily.

Agree with you. And Owies burning him in Q4 will teach him a bit about accountability and not getting complacent or under-estimating an opponent. He’ll be better for the experience, even though it nearly cost us the win.

Reeves will play.

He does a very good job crumbing the ball off the marking contest. Often better than oppo small forwards

I think his responsibility for the Owies goals is gbeing overblown. With the first one, they virtually concede the boundary side hit up there. And the second one was a really sharp hit up on the lead that is rarely stopped. Good on Owies for being good enough to convert.

Probably should get 3 votes. Injuring Weitiering alone made him the most influential player, plus he had a heap of score involvements.

Watched the replay, Weitering ran into JDG not the other way around.

Jordy was OK, ran out of legs towards the end and as a result stopped looking like he was working hard e.g. the handpass in the last.

I suspect he doesn't have the engine to play on the ball without frequent breaks in the forward line.

Are you talking about the handball where he propped and put it to an overlapping runner in the clear? I thought that was well worked if so.

Yeah, that's the one. The handball itself was clever but atypical of what JDG would do most times. :)

P.S: You were right about T. Brown / McCreery last week. I thought T.Brown was retained as an extra midfielder against Carlton but he actually played Beau's role yesterday... and not as well as Beau would IMO. I have nothing against Tyler.

Outs pick themselves, IMO.

Out: McReery
In: McInnes

Brown to the sub role. Not what I’d do by any stretch because Brown was horrible for 90% of the match (and I do mean horrible with poor skill execution, no awareness, no intensity and fumbly) and the support he’s receiving makes as much sense as the clips for JDG (the guy had 11 score involvements his impact was immense).
