Look I just want to let everyone know I haven't started drinking early but... Tyler Brown stays for mine.

Yep he always feels like he's about 5% off - just not the right kick, handball misdirected, chooses the wrong target etc... But I have a feeling in my bones it's going to click for him and he is going to be one of our better, stronger midfielders.

We get pilloried for never giving kids the right opportunities. But it could have been just as likely that Cox had a quiet game and Tyler had to step up as a ruckman. I feel like he is a player who is really going to benefit from these game minutes, and ultimately we will be a better team for it.

It's really hard to make any unforced changes, tbh, and with Frost taking a week off I think we already have a strong enough team to take on the Hawks.
Yeah especially when he put on another 10kg and is the right weight for his height.

Finally some sense. No change for me as well unless we want some tactical change against the Hawks.

Does everyone have to have 20+ possessions, 10 tackles and 15 marks? I think as long as they play their role they shouldn't be dropped.

The tackle/block on Saad was like two goals at a crucial time, and then he scored a goal as well. Tyler showed spirit and doesn't deserve to be dropped.
Spot on!!

On McReery, he is one of, if not the strongest player in the team, and is a tackling beast. Could he become an inside mid, which is a position we need to support Adams?

He struggles to get to 10 touches, he will never be a full-time midfielder. Has no idea how to win the footy.

Can we just beat Hawthorn? They have had the wood on us for decades!
Yep. It dates back to the 1974 Semi Final against them.

Up until then, our record against them was 71 wins, 15 losses.

Since then, the W-L record is 27-54 which is a 33.3% winning record.

The Hawks have beaten us in 1977, 1980, 1981, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2010 and 2018. In all those years, we made the Grand Final.

T Brown was quiet yesterday and I understand why people want him dropped. McCreery has been equally poor, if not worse than T Brown in his last few matches.

Just on this. Our attacking forwards in Mihocek, Henry and Ginnivan average 10,10 and 11 possessions a game Mcreery averages 9.- how many stats are we expecting from our defensive forwards - who are unlikely to be the ones who break back into space and get ahead of the ball for uncontested stats and goals?

Yes, it's a strange hoodoo. No matter the list changed or coaches the monkey stays on our back. Not confident at all this week.

The only problem is there are games where Mcreery's pressure doesn't achieve much, while he also does almost nothing offensively.

Understand that, but how does replacing T Brown with McCreery improve the side?

I’d stick with T Brown on the grounds that McCreery wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire in the first place. I think he needs a run in the seconds to get his hands on the leather…. Maybe even playing upfield. Perhaps he could be an inside mid development option. Not sure a few tackles in the forward line is enough to put on his cv.

Mcreery forces more errors, is better in a contest and has more impact when he gets the footy. I'll be very surprised if he's not straight back in. The fact that they moved Brown into a defensive forward role really early because Saad looked like running amok was significant.

That's pretty much the same for any forward isn't it? But when he does nothing offensively or stuck any tackles, he's still usually subdued a good player.

And yet T Brown gets more effective tackles.

When he plays stoppage he does. He didn't register any tackles playing as a defensive forward against Carlton
That’s the thing. T Brown has been playing mostly as a mid. Replacing him with McCreery doesn’t make sense.

That would be my suggestion for McCreery as well. Send him back to the VFL and tell him he’s got a couple of weeks playing onball as well as forward and that we need him to develop the offensive part of his game.

He doesn’t need to be getting it 20 times like we’ve been saying about Tyler as he has those defensive weapons. Mid teens should be the aim.

Brown played the role Mcreery usually plays. Putting Mcreery back in that role makes sense, because Mcreery plays it better. Whether or not there is another role for Brown is another story.

And Mihocek was recruited as a backman.
Beau has all the attributes to make it as a mid - he just needs the opportunity.
I don't think he has any attributes as a mid, he can't find the ball for starters. Noble would be my choice to play mid, powerful core and break away speed and can find the ball
