Out: Sidebottom

In: (never thought I’d say this but to his credit he’s been good recently) WHE

Sub: Carmichael for his versatility to play inside and outside or with his goal sense half forward

Macrae perhaps… but very limited to being an in and under player. And I wouldn’t change the De Goey, Adams, Mitchell midfield mix unless one required resting

In saying that if we ignore his VFL form and don’t play young Macrae then other clubs will enquire… namely the WB where his brother plays, and who are in need of sone further centre mid developing players

That just gives me Henry vibes all over again

Moore should have played on Larkey from the start. Best defender on best forward. We finally moved him on after Larkey’s 5th goal. Too late! It was a rare case of poor match-day coaching from Fly, Leppa and Co.

Not really, the win was never in doubt. Your not going to win every contest across the field. I thought Goldstein was the dominant ruckman as well, but it made little difference. In saying that, Murphy was all at sea.

Collectively we were the better side and rightly won the game. But an opposition key forward taking eight marks and kicking 5.2 while our best defender was minding someone far less dangerous pretty clearly suggests that we got the match up wrong.

Why so defensive about acknowledging it? I’m not saying they’re bad coaches. They’re fantastic coaches! But even the best make mistakes from time to time.

Shades of 2011 GF.

I acknowledge that Fly said he wasn't into managing players, but I suspect that there will be a couple of unforced changes this week. Obviously, Sidey is out, and I reckon that Fin comes in. I also reckon that Pendles will be rested, and Carmichael may get a call up. Depends how Elliot feels he might find himself as the Sub with Harrison getting a call up, as well. Fly has said that they are looking to get some new kids into the lineup and this game, especially given it's in Perth, is an ideal opportunity. This should breed some competitive spirit with the new lads as well as rewarding their respective positive performances at VFL level.

Out: Sidey, Pendles, Elliot (Sub)
In: Harrison, Carmichael, McCrae

Are people seriously having a go at Murphy? Seriously?

He's being asked to play key back when he's not a key back. It's what Frampton was recruited for. So until Frampton can return, this is what we have to deal with. I've said 100 times,7 of our 8 losses last year were against sides with two tall forwards. Murphy and Howe are not key backs.

I'd be bringing in Frampton if he's ready

Otherwise, bring in Carmichael for Steele

We don't want to be complacent. They actually defeated us at Marvel last year with a below-average side.

Congrats to Jack Crisp on 200 consecutive games!

Frampton- looks like he plays this week - just a matter of whether it is at Preston or Perth

He was atrocious today. Gave away too many free kicks.
No he didnt, the scumps crucified him .. e.g. Roos forward ran thru and trie dto fend off , Bianco tackled him, forwrd just threw the ball in front of him and fell forward pulling Bianco into his back and the scump awared a push in back free .. absolutely atrocious call .. many more like that

Congrats to Jack Crisp on 200 consecutive games!

People keep saying this

It was probably their best side for the season and even then, the only reason they won was accuracy in front of goal

They couldn't miss and we couldn't buy a goal

Crisp 200 in a row!

Ed Allan for Sidebottom?

I'd give Frampton another week but Markov probably the weakest link if he comes in.

Murphy got a bath today but has way too many credits in the bank. Safe.

(and hopefully Mccreery didn't get old mate high with ten secs left)
I thought Murphy was brilliant early giving away so much height and weight and most of Larkey's goals came from shank kicks that landed in his lap through no good work on his behalf as well as a horrendous turnover by Bobby Hill which leftt Murphy and Moore exposed and superman would not have defended the kick over the top.

Five goals seems a lot but context is important.

People always ignore that fact. McGovern, Shuey and Hearn ( I think) returned for that game.

I didn't say he was going to be dropped, I'm just saying he picked a bad week to get a bath with Frampton getting close.

Doesn't matter which way you look at it, he was well beaten yesterday.

I'm a huge Murphy fan FWIW. I remember posting a couple of years ago that I had faith in him and someone's response was "on what basis?" 🥵

Pendles could be the sub, still gets the game credit in his way to 400, McCrae into the 22 for Sidebum. Play Finn in the guts, give him a chance and see what comes of it.

I understand, but if a defender's opponent gets five Joe the Goose goals he hasn't been given a bath or copped a hiding. I only use that term when a player has been outmuslcled or out paced by his opponent in numerous one on one contests.
