I think Carmichael could have a decent game, if he gets an opportunity. Can win the footy and get a it a fair bit. He could have a 30 possession debut game, and get dropped the following week, should DeGoey be back....

Or a 3 possession game and be reselected like Chugg.

Everything is a why or a unknown. Why, let him be the sub, if the club don't want to give him an opportunity at AFL level, just a taste. Against North, maybe they think it's an opportunity to do that...
Wasn't he last week's sub? He must be desperately in need of a bit of game time which he could have in the VFL while JC takes over DG's spot. Not really concerned about losing DG for a week as he looked lost against GC.

I didn't put him as an out, because l didn't think he would be dropped, it's just a possible suggested option as the sub. Considering he was in the whites today, could mean he maybe an out, and maybe Chugg an in....
Not sure why Chugg would be an in. Looked completely out of his depth

Bad news about JDG but hopefully a blessing in disguise in that he can refresh himself mentally without the scrutiny and pressure to perform while still being around his team mates. Hope the strain isn’t too bad though. Signs seem to point to a Carmichael debut (thanks Jen).
I’d like to see Will Kelly get a call up but the VFL watchers are not giving me much confidence.
The selectors have pulled the right strings most occasions so far this year and I’ve enjoyed not stressing about it as in the past.

I thought Kelly was really solid in the VFL last week. Given Madge was playing forward I'd be happy to see him picked.

Did Begg look like he was ready for AFL footy, yet was given an opportunity?
Begg needed the run to give him a little to work with. We weren't quite there and McRae wanted Cox to be consistent in the VFL, then elevate him. Part of McRae's mantra is that anyone can play well for one or two games, but it's putting together a string of performances and builds confidence so when you are elevated, you have had a few good matches. It's better to have someone hunting a debut than feeling frustrated due to poor performance at AFL level.

Terrible news for JDG.
Hopefully nothing too serious.

Would love to see Carmichael come in.

Also--would love to see us play Kelly too with Moore out.
Great chance to get a look at a few players.

Xerri ruled out for season by Norff today

Certainty now that CCJ plays key forward with Larkey and back up ruck to Golstrein

Murphy on Larkey 200cm
Howe on CCJ 200cm

Yeah, I think so too. You don't want Howe as that role, stops him from doing what he does best.
We have used Madge in situations like this previously, but he isn't a option now.
Given what happened to Dean, now Madgen as soon as CHB is up for grabs, Kelly, if selected, will probably acquire some illness or injury between now and the game. I tend to agree that Kelly or McMahon should be added to the line up, but that would also require 3 changes, meaning Ruscoe would lose his spot.
