Less time for opposition to prepare - along those lines - I wouldn't be surprised to see us soft pedal deliberately - certainly win well but not thrashing Norf.

I'm of the opinion that he will get SOME minutes at least - even if only coming in for part of the last quarter - too good an opportunity to miss.

No. It was tongue-in-cheek about JDG's recent performances. We've seen more ability on the dance floor than footy field and his lack of effort against the Giants was abysmal. He has gone missing far too many times and a dropping could teach him a thing or two about not owning the field. There's an argument to be made it could harm his price but I hope he is removed from our list either way. For the money he is on, Taranto is a much better option. $550k for a club B&F winner is much better than $600k for a guy who gets arrested most years. There's not much difference between the pair either, bar two years of seniority to JDG.

I fear that’s a harsh reality, my hope is they have some patience. He has had very COVID and injury interupted career so far. His brother was a relatively late bloomer…

He is made of glass. Been lucky this year but is still not much more than a good looking young bloke with a decent body. A bit like Wes Fellowes, who looked the part, but couldn't play it.

Keep him on the list in the absence of a rival for his spot, and hope that a miracle turns him into a contemporary version of his father's pinchy-pinchy, niggly-niggly defending style with a bit of flair and a touch of mongrel.

He hasn't really been slipped into the team. If North monitor BF or his dad speaks to his son, the inclusion of Carmichael was always likely, before and after selection. Good luck to him.

We all hang on to JDG like he's irreplaceable but to me and a lot of others, he's quite replaceable with midfielders from around the competition. We just cannot have our "match-winner" disappear in close games and sure, he has a few BOG a season, but others have that nearly every week. There is talent out there that is better than De Goey. He's just not special. He's an above average player who is elite at clearance work but not noticeably or consistently enough.

So you don’t like him and you’re using one below par performance as an excuse to drop him for a 0 gamer.

Yeah, he’s ‘gone missing’ so many times this year that he’s averaging 20 disposals and a goal per game. 2 players in the entire league including himself can boast those numbers. Even in his ‘abysmal’ performance against GC (in which none of our mids performed particularly well) he led the team for clearances.

Not much between the two? One is a proven performer and a game breaker on his day at AFL level. The other has had a couple of decent, but not spectacular VFL games.

Instead of pretending to be balanced and trying to say you want him dropped on performance, call it for what it is and just say “I don’t like him, I want him gone”. At least then you won’t be making a fool of yourself.
