We cannot go into a finals campaign with McStay or AJ as the second ruck. That would be diabolical. If Cox has to go (even temporarily) then Frampton should be the replacement.
Frampton (whom I like) is sadly no good at all as a forward. We are better off letting him slow brew in the position we recruited him for as a backman. Would much much prefer McStay rucked with AJ playing, or Kreuger getting a call up.

It's been said before but you don't select the forward/relief ruck based purely on the hitouts, you select them as a forward.

McStay gave away a free infringing in the ruck inside their forward 50 arc just as I predicted. It happens whenever undersized non rucks are asked to do the job and it can be a very dangerous ploy given the way smaller men infringe at throw ins and ball ups.
I don't remember this. He gave away 1 free on the night, so it's possible. I do remember the one Cox gave away to Curnow for his first free goal. So, tall but lacking in strength rucks are also prone to this, I guess.

Me

Out: Markov, Cox
In: Hill, Johnson
Sub: Lipinski

Markov is okay but he doesn’t get close to what Nick Daicos was producing at half back. Move Nick back there because he had little impact in the midfield tonight.

Markov had just about his best game offensively at Collingwood. Not as good defensively as he has been but if we’re moving Daicos back to HB, Noble’s the one under pressure imho. He’s had a few poor weeks.

Cox resting up forward has officially become a liability we can’t afford.
He needs to go.
For that matter, we can’t simply park midfielders up forward, they need to do something. Lipinski continues to underwhelm. He must have photos?….
I’ve said this for weeks, Frampton needs to play. Moore is our most skilled defender. Using him as a lockdown doesn’t add up.
The absence of Hill showed how much we miss his blistering speed and skill.

In Frampton (Full back and into ruck in the event of injury)
Out Cox

In Hill
Out Lipinski

In WHE (for all the shit that he cops, he does a lot of connecting running up and down the wings)… did we notice how our link up and run sucked?

B Q Frampton Murph
HB Maynard Moore Markov
C Jaicos DeGoey Sidebottom
HF McCreery McStay Hill
F Elliot Checkers Howe
Foll Cameron Mitchell Naicos
IC Crisp Adams WHE Pendles
Sub Noble

Was outside their F50 for blocking DeKoning. From memory, his kick inside F50 resulted in the free to Curnow because Moore grabbed arm.

In your dreams is the only place Noble would be under pressure.

Just 2 clangers.

And = team high 6 turnovers. I’d take a punt a lot of his “effective” disposals were those where he missed his target (kicked short or wide, handpassed wide) but not by so much that the intended target couldn’t recover the football, but by enough to ensure the intended target was under a lot more pressure than he should have been which then impacted the next disposal if indeed he could get a disposal away.

Time is up for Cox as a second ruck/forward. His future now is being ruck insurance for Darcy Cameron if he is to get injured over the next couple of seasons while Steene continues to develop.

TBH, my replacement for Cox is completely dependent on the VFL performance out of Kreuger/Frampton/Johnson. Howe forward is an interesting option which really frees up the Frampton selection.

I think Hill comes in for Hoskin-Elliott with Lipinski as the sub.

I don't think we need to throw everything out, but Cox and Lipinski were two of our worst over a two week period, so based on that they would have to be under threat.

If Lipinski is going to play so outside and with zero physicality then he needs to not fumble and he needs to use the ball really well. He is fumbling and using the ball poorly at the moment. I think bringing him in without VFL form was a mistake. Go let him have 35 in the VFL and get his touch back.

Naicos is a superstar but I think the full time midfield move and being tagged has also exhausted him. He was poor last night and short stepped way too many contests. Asking too much of a second year, lightly framed player. I'd like him to play all over the ground, but to start forward next week.

Out: Cox, Lipinski
In: Hill, Frampton

Howe forward, Crisp mid. Daicos forward. Pendles sub.

Def: Moore, Frampton, Murphy, Quaynor, Maynard, Noble, Markov

Mid: Cameron, DeGoey, Adams, Mitchell, Crisp, Sidebottom, Jaicos

Fwd: McStay, Mihocek, Howe, Elliott, McReery, Hill, Naicos, WHE

Sub: Pendles

Im with you there regarding Lippa. 2022 Lipinski belongs in this team, but the Lipinski who has missed half a season and was then thrown straight back without a couple of weeks in the VFL to find touch probably doesn’t if we are serious about trying to win a flag.

This is the exact reason why I don’t see AJ as the second ruck replacement to cox,
Could break the all time record for ruck infringements.

Adams frustrates me. Feel like he burns so many thrusts forward.

Never a fan of a midfielder plugging up a forward spot. He doesn’t have the knack up forward.
