Interesting that we kept our tall defense despite Bombers not having a particularly tall forward line.

Hopefully Berg, Tex and Gollant can stretch their middlesized defense as well.

It was a cool win, lots of fun but one of greatest wins?

C’mon be serious

Yes, period.

We've won 2 games in 32 years after the siren and we were 19 points down with what like 10 mins to go? I didn't see us winning that.

It's absolutely in our top 5-10 wins.

I personally think it might be one of those defining wins where things start to slowly turn around for the club.

No Berry??..

But captain Rory “the snail” Sloane comes back in to continue to show the young players how an out of form and completely cooked old bloke can play..

After all.. Gotta have that experience in the side. The youth can learn a lot from that..

When they bring Berry in, it better be a 'he's now in for the season' in and not a yoyo in and then out.

If he dominates again this week in the middle, they can't ignore it.

Berry and Hamill were the standouts in the SANFL last week. Strange that neither are in the extended squad. Taylor and Thilthorpe also played well.

Berry seems to be on the outer, he was a lot better than Hately. No speed brought into the team and the inclusions make us slower. Sloane, Crouch, Keays in the middle again.
Maybe Hately will be the sub?

Keaysy has made a mockery of all those people on here saying he 'wasn't good enough'. The bloke is actually really ******* good and pretty dynamic. He is literally non stop and will likely be in our midfield for at least another 4-5 years.
no one has ever questioned Benny’s effort..

What is questioned, and rightfully so, is his skills and execution..

To be fair to benny though… I reacon out of our main four “guns” (sloane, crouch, laird, Benny) Keays’s been the best in the first three games..

But thats says a lot more about the quality of our main go to midfielders than it does anything else..

Nobody has ever doubted his willingness to give 100% of the time, like a manic version of the energizer bunny.

The doubts over Keays relate to his poor kicking & decision making skills, both of which were on show again in the Showdown. How many times did the commentators mention a "bad kick from Keays" (or words to that effect)? The answer is several times... to the extent that these flaws are character defining for him, as much as his manic never-stop-working efforts are.

Yes, he's "literally non stop" - and sometimes that's a good thing. However, when his disposals are completely random, both through skills & decision making, then being "literally non stop" can also hurt the team. Like most players, Keays is neither black or white - he's a very middling shade of grey.

That’s some quality screen scraping. Watch the game next time though, it’s easier

Went at 81% but whatever

For his sake I hope not. He only played half of the sanfl game last week as he was taken off as a spare in case needed at afl level

Really the midfield should be Keays and Crouch 50% of the time each and the rest of the midfield made up of Shoey, Berry, Pedlar, Laird and Hately.

We seem incapable as a club of being able to understand/manage that rotation policy.

If we play Hately or Pedlar as sub or a travelling emergency we are being incredibly dumb with their development. Either give them a game at AFL level or let them play a full SANFL game to improve their case to actually get a game - flying to Melbourne is hardly "a learning experience" or a taste - play Jones/McHenry/Rowe as sub to give them the message they should be getting and let these yoyo guys play a full game.
