Because they were already ruined mentally and physically. How come McLean, Morton, Trengove, Scully, Gysberts alot of em started really well and we were a fringe finals side by 2010. Its laughable you think that if the recruiters had just picked better players they would be better.

Ask yourself how the **** did we miss on every high pick even though they were mostly accepted as high picks by other recruiter's? Its not like we were drafting randoms at pick 7 that other clubs laughed at.
