Does the SANFL have a game this weekend?

I would seriously take emergencies with the thought of playing them in the likelihood a home final is out of the equation.

Good teams manage players at this team of the year, Hawks the measuring stick have done this along with Freo too.

Fair call, though with Crouch it's his defensive running that lets him down, not his work in close. Happy to acknowledge his strong inside game, both offensively and defensively. It's just that he was dreadful on the outside.

I'd argue, however, that if he was that important yesterday he wouldn't have finished in the vest.
He was credited with 2 Rebound 50's in the game so obviously he's heeding the coaching staff's message and getting better at "defensive running" in what is seen as a deficiency in his game. Thommo 3 R50's, Atkins 1 R50, Douglas 1 R50, Sloane 0 R50's, Dangerfield 0 R50's. Compares more than favourably with our other mids on the day so he is getting on his "bike" more.

I've always been dubious about Crouch's worth, but his game against eagles was nowhere near as bad as what's been posted. He's really started to win me over (cos that really matters to him and the AFC:)) with his grappling, tackling, being a general bloody nuisance to the opposition, and… with his dishing off by hand and by foot even if it is at times lacking polish…and sometimes, direction. I'd like to see Crouch in the middle harassing Duckwood all match long.

he's dynamite at the in your face stuff... absolutely dynamite...

Now that Stevie J has gotten off - I won't be surprised if he goes down swinging this weekend. Unless he wants to play again next year at another club - and needs to keep a clean sheet?

Some of the other guys that are retiring might also decide to go a bit of knuckle if needed. Really hope none of our guys get sucked into any of that stuff and potentially get charged before the finals.

We'll just get Thommo to sit him on his arse again.

Dwayne Russell said tonight that he will go around again but not at geelong.

Without being a bastard, some of you lot suggesting Pods gets a farewell game need your head read.

1) He's been a loyal servant to footy and an admirable player but he's far from an all time great.

2) Just because he's playing his old club why should we facilitate the fairytale finish at the detriment of our own team?

Agreed. And campo said he's taking best 22 onto Geelong. As good as pods has been over the last fortnight, he's not best 22 unless a forward goes down.

Good teams are top 4 and have a home final stitched up at this time of year ;)

I see your post and raise you this---great teams are those that somehow manage to overcome the murder of their head coach, not disintegrate into a pile of ashes and instead push forward and (amazingly) get better as the season wears on. :p
