I really think we are better with Naughton solo. They were both competing for the same deep ball when they were in the side. Either Bruce needs to get on his bike and be the lead up style/get out kick up this wing or the system wont work. Give me Naughtons paddock inside 50 with Cavarra, Dale and Wallis at this feet
The reason we look better with just one is because of their lack of chemistry, due to naughtons injuries they couldn’t train together over preseason so they haven’t learned how to work together and how each other plays etc
And since the season started they've had only 5 games together. Those games included Rd 1 when we had a mere 20-something i50s and Rd 4 when Naughton started hitting his straps against Sydney but injured his ankle well before half time. And then the Rd 11 game against Brisbane where (like Rd 1) Naughton was coming in a bit rusty. The reason we look better with just one is because of their lack of chemistry, due to naughtons injuries they couldn’t train together over preseason so they haven’t learned how to work together and how each other plays etc
Looks slow to react and was a tad selfish at times.Lloyd was horrendous on the weekend. Hasn't been that good all year. He's first out for me.
Agreed. Look I like a greedy small forward, we could use someone who takes it on themselves to just kick the goal sometimes but doesnt help that Lloyd is now utterly garbage. He’s slow, he’s not clean, offers no pressure and he doesn’t even kick his goals anymore. He’s cooked.Sam Lloyd would be one of the most selfish players I have seen. Hardly ever gives it to some in a position, nearly always takes the impossible shot and is always hanging around for the easy handball for a goal.
Signed him on for 2021 before the start of this season. OopsWhats Lloyds contract status? Has he got a year left? Happy to keep him on as depth next year but id be suprised if he was in the best 22 this time next year
We have to have a second ruck option this week, Melbourne's mids are too good to give armchair service to? I think English stays in, he was used sparingly yesterday, had an 8 day break last week and another good break this week. It comes down to Trengove or Sweet one would think?
Wouldn't trust his field kicking nor his agility atm. Would rather schache in this week tbh to take lever away from naughton as the third man upSomeone else suggested it.
He was originally a back.
We invested a lot of money.
So why not put Bruce back.
Better than Gardner maybe.
With Jamarra to partner Naughton next year.
Good time to try something different.

And that’s why you can’t rely on the stats sheet to judge performance.
The zero turnovers is only by the grace of god. His kick to Wood was one of great risk and little reward. I’d be uncomfortable having Daniel taking those chances, never mind someone with a fraction of his ability.
The other kick I50 not counted as a ‘turnover’ was much worse and should have resulted in a goal against.
He wasn't terrible because he only touched it 6 times, one of those kicks should of resulted in an Adelaide goal and he is playing against a bloke who is passed it and another kid. I'll stand corrected but under pressure against a good side I think he will be found wanting but clearly the MC don't believe that!Gardner wasn't great but he was far from terrible. He went at 83% and 100% by hand, 0 turnovers, 4 spoils and 1 intercept mark.
As for his matchups...

Note that goal from Taylor Walker was from a free kick against Dunkley even though Gardner was his matchup.
