News Charlie Dixon signs for West Broken Hill

Has a bit of a one season too long, is played too long, then eventually falls out of the AFL side exactly like Jonas and Westhoff about it.

Unlike them, I don't see Charlie hanging around in the SANFL to season's end though. Immediate retirement feels imminent.
Didn't Westhoff win the BnF in his second last season? His one season too long was pretty surprising.

Jonas and Westhoff weren't battling injury to the extent Charlie is - struggling to move etc.

I completely agree though, think it's time he pulls the pin, and ideally he would have done it prior to the mid-season draft.

If I'm reading the tea leaves, I'd say Kenny Average will stick with the impotent Dixon for the rest of the year with a rest here and there and it will be even more painful to watch and make us an even greater laughing stock where in accordance with this theme, we lose a qualifying final with Dixon coming off the ground five minutes into the game because he's reinjured his knee or ankle or brain.

Marshall can't take a contested mark so bomb it to Todd doesn't work. Georgiadis is too mobile so it's hard to bomb it to Mitch and if you say bomb it to Ollie the players will get confused which one.
Given we need to bomb it to someone it has to be Charlie. You know this is the logic of our coaching panel

I think the broader supporter base think more highly of charlie than what we do here
100% they do. We are overrun by happy clappers. That is why the membership protests by key players on this board will never have any impact. The club just doesn't care.

Ken has a small quota on new thoughts every season. He'll run his old favourites into the ground, even though they've failed him repeatedly in the past when it matters.

Dixon is dumb as dogshit, but you'd think if he can't figure it out himself, someone close to him would pull him aside and tell him he's going to be walking like he's 70 before he's 40 unless he retires ASAP. We're no chance of winning a flag whilst he's still on our list and at some point the money for staying around doesn't outweigh the long term damage he's obviously incurring now, from still playing.

Let’s just kick a dog while it’s down like we did with Jonas last year. I can’t flipping stand the bs in this thread.

His body is failing him, he is most likely finished but can’t we show him a bit of respect on the way out?

I personally don’t hold any grudges against him for sticking up for his coach like others do. And as far as I’m concerned he has played his role asked of him to the 100% of his effort, ability and body limitations. For that, I respect him and appreciate the service he has given the club.

I'm going to show Dixon the exact amount of respect that he has shown me and my fellow supporters.

Nobody in 30 years will be telling their kids about the days of Charlie Dixon.

Tredders? Obviously.
Schulz? Yep.
Butcher and what could have been? Without question.
But Dixon? What is there to say? Not much fault of his own, but he's played in an era where his coach made it impossible for key forwards to be exciting or successful. Slagging off the fans just means he won't be remembered as a cult hero like Butcher or Westhoff either.

This era will be looked back on as a dark age for the club. Players who weren't out and out superstars will be forgotten. Hinkley will only be remembered as our worst coach of all time. David Koch our worst chairman.

That Mac & cheese bloke will be remembered for a very very long time, for all the wrong reasons.

My brain is injured watching him play, so it’s only fair.

Ollie Lord going down spannered everything.

Big Dix with Chad Bro cum'ings had to bow to ol' father time and gravity.

Chuck's f'cked... game set n match

Still got some smooth moves up his sleeve, mid field n ruck is his calling... get'im amongst it

It just shows the lack of intelligence and what he knows about the supporters - and it's very, very little... have a look at yourself.

I’m not that easily offended.

If you're not offended by Charlie Dixon calling you an idiot who knows nothing about football but you are offended by your fellow supporters disrespecting Charlie Dixon, you may want to reconsider your priorities into being a bit less of a cuck.

He could have stuck up for his coach, even granted the obvious Stockholm syndrome in play, without sinking the absolute boot into any thinking fans who dared challenge the, ah, record breaking status quo. Still like Tex down the road he isn’t paid for his communication skills and while he’s never gone near hitting Tex’s lows in that department he’s never hit Tex’s on field football highs either.

100% effort, yes, within the frustrating limitations of a destructive game plan meant to use him up as unthinking wrecking ball rather than as intelligent bulldozer operator.

I’m not going to disrespect him and will simply see his career through the lens of how Hinkley likely limited it and how that likely limited our ultimate results. And it would be perfectly understandable if Dixon cannot bear to see things that way.
