I’m with you. Most overrated PAFC career I can recall. Ryder was close IMO, but this guy takes the cake. Doesn’t hold a candle to Jay Schulz, and not in the same stratosphere as Tredrea, Hodges or even D. Smith.
 
I’ve really liked his starts in games this year. Looks like he’s going to tear games apart. Then something happens and he becomes ineffectual. Not to mention the ability to nail a crucial set shot. I really do think it’s mental for him and a lot of our players.
As an aside, I got to the game at 5pm as my daughter wanted to attempt get some autographs and pics. Some players came out for the earliest warmup where they take set shots etc. All very casual. Some trickle out by themselves, others in pairs. Charlie comes out with Chad.
Are these guys inseparable?

With due respect he's not got what it takes for that from what I've seen so far. Without his footballing platform he'd be unremarkable. I watch some car youtubes and yeah, he's not high on the list.

But... Could be worse. The face he pulled when he seen a Holden with a Chev badge on it, there's hope for him yet.

I like the ones with the black fellas in the NT where they find an old Hyundai excel in the bush with no doors or exhaust or tyres and they get it going and drive it back

Will never forget a post-game interview about 4 years ago when Ginever pointed out directly to him that he leans back when kicking for goal which doesn’t help his accuracy. Dixon almost bit his head off with some disrespectful comment about armchair experts etc. If only he or someone else at the club had listened.

Two players were more responsible than any others for the 2020 prelim loss to Richmond: Lycett for getting his pants pulled down in the last quarter by Nankervis. And Charlie for failing to give a yelp except for one late goal. If he marks 2-3 of those long bombs we kept kicking his way, we probably win. Assuming, he could actually seal the deal with his goal kicking.

Reacting like that to Ginever tells you all you need to know about Charlie & the whole joint, it's on par with Hinkley telling club greats they don't understand modern footy.

I'll tell you what they did understand you fukcing bellends! SKILLS

The worst part of this is that Hinkley himself doesn't understand modern footy.
 
He is a tough, frustrating player and even though he is still a great contested mark that we would be better off without him in the team.

He is just not reliable in front of goals when it matters. It kills the team.

I am on the Dixon watch to see if his play spirals downward this year because of injury and old age, etc.

Was Ryder's career at Port really overrated?

I always thought that he was a bloke that had insane potential, got screwed over by the doping case, and never fully realised that dream at Port. No question his ceiling was one of the highest we've ever seen.

Haha that wasn't a torp that was a flat punt. Flat punts don't spin as much as torps.

That's what we should teach our players to kick when its raining or the ground has been hit with a large downpour.

The ball carries further and if our players were smart enough they would get an advantage in a pack marking situation because the ball carries further to the back of the contest, players tend to misjudge how far it will travel, and our smaller players can put themselves at the back of the pack.

Blight's players followed his instructions to the letter, and gave a master class in the 1998 SF at the SCG using the flat punt. There was a massive downpour 40 minutes before the game, one of those Sydney 60mm in 20 minutes type downpours, I got caught up in it and was soaked like never before, and there was regular rain during the match, but not all match.
