So this is going to be on a Sunday afternoon with out the bye the week after... lol AFL.

No doubt we'll end up playing someone like Hawthorn the week after. lol

I think the week after May 27 will be the first bye week it'll be round 11, I can imagine round 11, 12 & 13 being the bye rounds. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Would love to go but saving for a wedding is going to rule it out. Hopefully we are playing well and put on a show.

Port are doing the heavy lifting in the China initiative. Happy for GCS to have success out of this but hopefully we get as much or more. Still waiting for a proper Chinese sponsor to get on board, Perhaps China Air? Hopefully there is something in the pipes.
All in good time. We haven't even played the game yet.

This make sense, play in china lets say the first week of the bye rounds then having the next week off.

Possibly unpopular opinion time
We're the one that wants to play a premiership points game up there
Perfect understandable for the AFL not to give us the fixture we want either side of it

Counterpoint.

We're doing all the heavy lifting promoting the game in China, which will expose more people to the game both at home and abroad, which helps the AFL grow the game and keep ahead of competing sports with regards to attendence and participation.

So the least they can do is not f@#k us over with the fixture.

Has anyone made a comment on the air quality in China? If it is an average day it will be like playing a game and having half a pack of smokes at half time?

Also to get there - China Southern flying to Guangzhou direct for about $500 return. Then a fast train to Shanghai - get business class tickets and it is better than a first class seat on a plane - the seat itself but not the food!!! A good way to see a fair bit of China's country side and experience the real China in the train. The trains are easy to book and catch. 1.500 kms in about six hours.

Its been confirmed the Suns play Melbourne in Alice Springs on Saturday the 27th of May.

Surely - surely - the AFL wouldn't make the Suns play a game in Alice Springs 6 days after they play in China, right? The China game couldn't be the 21st then, could it?

They would if they want Melbourne to be the next 'fairytale' bullshit like the Dogs were this year.

Notice how Good Friday goes ahead this year with North and the Dogs now that it's not just two tinpot clubs trying to get a leg up, but one tin pot club playing the reigning premiers? Even though it's apparently been approved by the commission since 2014? Funny that.

As much as they love a Victorian team success story, I dare say the AFL would rather Gold Coast be successful than Melbourne. I don't think they'd force the Suns to do it.

I'm thinking maybe the China game is the week earlier? Suns host Port in China, have a bye, then travel to Alice? Maybe?

I understand that China is a big deal, I get it. I like that the club is thinking outside the box and trying new things... BUT, our main goal in 2017 (realistic or not) should be to win the premiership.. I think a trip to china playing a game and then flying back may have an impact on the players performances the following 2-3 games.

Again I get it, I like being the first club to do it, I like international exposure. But I feel like it would be better off just focusing on football

I wouldn't worry about it ruining our flag chances . there has to be one to ruin it

I said to my wife today, "hun....you dont have to buy me anything for my birthday, i am going to treat myself to a trip to China to watch a footy game"

Here's hoping that KT, DK and the AFL assist the supporters to travel with some sort of travel package.

If you book now, you can fly for $480 ....RETURN ....o_O
