Don’t think it’s linked... to Sara and Jane... why? Tsk tsk so many missed opportunities. Did this one come up for abduction attempts in BRE court case? Certainly sounds like could be BRE.
It's not the victim in the image but it sure sounded like it could have been BRE to me while reading it, (Church Lane came to mind) until I got to "dark skinned" & wondered if they'd have referred to anyone as such unless they were distinctively dark skinned? As opposed to having said olive skin or deeply tanned skin etc...dark skinned is quite a specific description to me & particularly if considering the likelihood of it being used to describe a caucasian man in the middle of winter. Pissed or not, if she fought him off, she'd have had a decent enough look at him regardless so I'll say probably not him, for that reason alone.imo it sounds like BRE also.
description could be him, white car. location is in northbridge instead of claremont though. time frame fits, was just after jane rimmer when police action started heating up in claremont.
any thoughts on the appearance of the victim in the article photo vs the claremont victims?
would be interesting to see if there was other failed abductions around northbridge around this time too.

Tried to look at google maps placing her in the locations - if I have this correct I think she got mixed up - which is reasonable for a visitor.I found this article which might be of interest. It brought "Dorothy" to mind. This article is dated 20/6/1996. (transcribed below)

Before the woman was abducted, she had visited friends at Paul and Scotty's Ozi Inn in Newcastle Street, and then tried to walk back to the Globe Hotel in Wellington Street, Perth.

The man drove her to Spinoza Street in Mt Lawley, stopped the car, punched and kicked her and tried to assault her indecently.

Yep good point there! I wonder if she meant to turn left? towards Beaufort St and down to Wellington St but turned right and found herself on Fitzgerald and decided it was in the same direction
Maybe she stopped a car - or the car stopped to help her (looking lost) - at Roe/Fitzgerald and that was when she was snatched
The dark skinned also stopped me - what else stopped me was the 2nd attempt outside the car - though thats debatable.
But anyway this should be in the BRE thread rather than Cutler
Nope, but if you make one my suggestion is to broaden it beyond just Dorothy's attack to any random unsolved WA attacks. Is there a "Dorothy" thread?
Thanks.. is The Bunker a thread?Nope, but if you make one my suggestion is to broaden it beyond just Dorothy's attack to any random unsolved WA attacks.
There's been a fair bit on Dorothy written, perhaps in The Bunker.
Thanks.. is The Bunker a thread?
ThanksThe Bunker closed but you can still check in below for research, there's also Missing, Abducted or Murdered WA

Backpacker, 22, flees from abduction ordeal.
The hysterical screams of a 22-year-old woman who had just escaped from her abductor woke a Mt Lawley family about 3am yesterday.
The woman, a backpacker from British Columbia, had been forced into a white car by a man on the corner of Roe and Fitzgerald streets, Northbridge, police said.
The man drove her to Spinoza Street in Mt Lawley, stopped the car, punched and kicked her and tried to assault her indecently.
The woman escaped and ran to the Redmans' house nearby.
Helen Redman said she leapt out of bed when she heard the screams and banging on their front window.
She found the woman on her front verandah, desperate to get in.
She was dressed in a loose blouse and jeans and was soaked from the overnight downpour and bleeding.
Mrs Redman and her husband, Jon, took the woman inside, gave her a change of clothes and rang the police.
The woman told the Redmans about her ordeal and how she had fled after the man stopped the car.
"She got as far as out wall (about 100m) when he caught her, and they had a fight. He tried to rip her jeans off and hit her in the head," Mrs Redman said.
"She had three earrings in her ear. It looked like they had been ripped out and there was blood coming from there."
The woman arrived from Adelaide on Sunday, Mrs Redman said. It is believed she planned to stay in Perth about a month.
Before the woman was abducted, she had visited friends at Paul and Scotty's Ozi Inn in Newcastle Street, and then tried to walk back to the Globe Hotel in Wellington Street, Perth.
Paul Joyce, from the Newcastle Street hostel, said that staff had seen the woman come in to visit a friend about 2am and she seemed upset. She left less than an hour later.
Earlier in the night, she had been at the Hip-E Club in Leederville.
Club director John Anderson said Tuesday night was "Back Packer Night". Staff would escort women to cabs or cars if requested.
The attacker was described as a dark-skinned man, aged 23 or 24, 180cm tall, medium build, broad shoulders, short brown hair, wearing a red and white long sleeve shirt, white T-shirt, light blue jeans and dark shoes. He was unshaven.
Macro task force Det-Sen Sgt Paul Ferguson said yesterday he did not believe the abduction was linked to the disappearance of Sarah Spiers and Jane Rimmer.
Lisa was also acquainted with Rebecca Delalande

I don't see BRE as a suspect in these 2 murders
I don't believe he chose them to be found at all. It's far more likely that he just didn't care whether they were found or not.It is the decisions BRE made regarding his travel from his marital homebase and his parents homebase that pins him to these crimes. He let a considerable amount of information leak out of his pandora's box when he made decisions not to bury Jane and Ciara, he wanted these final sites he chose to be known.
The compass headings he chose from his parents' residence to the final sites he chose for Jane and Ciara are very interesting and he showed something with his choice re Jane's final site.
His choice of 1st wedding date and his choice of when he commenced his 1st divorce proceedings - he commenced the divorce process so that decree nisi occurred on a certain birthdate and 32 days later the annulment. Note it would have been 31 days if the 25/1/1998 did not fall on a Sunday. BTW the 1st wedding date occurred 31 days before that special birthdate he chose to have the marriage divorce decree nisi granted on in 1997.
Rebecca's abduction and murder is not BRE imo.
Would Jane and Ciara still be alive if his 1st wife had not advised him on 4/6/1996 of the impending birth of her child (allegedly) conceived by another man referred to as DF?
