It is the comments about this job being a super top up for him that annoy me (and obviously others). Yes you answered the original query but it was a generic response and not about Rocket himself.

Rocket actually had a relatively cushy and well paid job as Director of Coaching at the most well funded club in the land (the Pies) when we came knocking at his door. The Pies pay well.

If he is getting paid more with the Suns than his old job then he has also had to put up with rubbish facilities for 2.5 years (did not move in to the new digs until February this year), a lot more stress, a lot more responsibility, less free time, and a lot more travel.

And iirc we are in the bottom 2 in total football club spending. We are short staffed compared to pretty much every other club, especially in his 1st 2 years. It was a very hard road to travel and he earned his dough to this point.

I agree that this year with a fit list his coaching has not worked well enough, the team are not performing as well as they can, and he should be let go. He may well be past it. But I disagree with the comments about him taking the job for the money.

When you have been a senior coach for a long time, there a lot easier ways to make a quid in the AFL industry than be the senior coach again.
