Coincidence? I hope so!

I think Top 4 is a big ask. But I think Essendon would be in the mix for a top 8 spot come near the end of the season.

Mate that is a coincidence and thats all it is. Although interesting one. Dont know how you found that one.

Hird knows that people are going to jump the gun and is aware of the fact that some coaches who have failed badly have started well.

Looks good for the Bombers. Fast running side but now with a defensive unit.

Hes done well to not eradicate that part of the game in bringing in the defensive part of the game.

Copied someone elses game plan, not sure how there is anything radical about the coaching going on.
The real story is the bulldogs that are persisting with the same game plan that doesn't stack up under compressed field play. Sorry for Eade it's his last year, he simply hasn't been able to adapt to 2010/11 football.

OMG obvsli meanz dat hirdy will = faillz!!!!

who gives a ****?!? hird has got essendon playing in a way knights was never able to accomplish... and do it consistently (well, over pre season and round 1 anyways)

Who exactly have we copied? Not you. I'd say borrowed aspects of several sides, infused wiht a few of our own ideas, but we are not directly copying any side.

Errr no.

I think you're forgetting how well Knights started out at Essendon. They had a very solid NAB Cup (though didn't make the final), followed by a round 1 thumping of a previous year top 4 team.

Everyone was mesmerised by the attacking game plan and the "speed of the Bombers!!". The term 'shades of Geelong (the previous year's premier)' was heard quite often. Then he made finals in his second season.

Now it's shades of Collingwood. Same cycle.

knights never got essendon to play with such intensity and pressure all around the ground

that credit goes to hird

Right there, you just told the whole internet that you have no idea about anything to do with game plans.

Hirds job as coach is to sit pretty in the box and field the interview questions.

We know he isn't the one pulling the strings at Essendon.

Still bitter much? Don't be. You are off to a wining start. Even if it was a brand of AFL football that made the whole football community cringe.
